4U1U, UNITED NATIONS HQ. Operators Ray/W2RE,
Frank/W2IX and Seppo/OH1VR are expected to be active from 4U1UN
beginning November 29th during the CQWW DX CW Contest. They are
tentatively scheduled to be active for about 10-12 hours.
Activity will be on 80-10 meters, if possible, 160 meters. ADDED
NOTE. PLEASE beware that there has been some PIRATE activity over
the past week. Activity for 4U1UN is usually announced before an
operation takes place.
6Y, JAMAICA. Kevin, WN9O, informs OPDX that
Mike/WO9Z, Don/W9IU and himself will be active as 6Y5/homecall
from February 28th to March 14th. Activity will be on 160-10
meters, including the WARC bands. The group will also be active
as 6Y8Z during the ARRL SSB Contest. QSL via W9IU (direct).
6Y, JAMAICA. Art/N3DXX and Steve/KN5H will be
active as 6Y6X in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November
29-30th) as Multi-2 entry. QSL via KN5H.
9M4, WEST MALAYSIA. Champ, E21EIC, reports
that he will not be active from Thailand in the CQWW CW Contest
as first announced, but he will join the team of operators
HS0ZDZ, 9M2/G3TMA, VK8AV, 9V1UV and possibly others as 9M4JB for
the contest. Operating class will be Multi/(something). QSL via
E21EIC. ADDED NOTE. Also, look for special event station 9M4SEA
to be active from the 31st annual South East Asia Net Convention
(SEANET) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, November 27-30th. QSL via

9N, NEPAL. Janusz, SP9FIH, is active as 9N7WE
from Kathmandu until December 6th. He informs OPDX that his
suggested frequencies are: 7073 or 7056, 14195, 18145 and 21295
kHz plus/minus QRM. Janusz also mentions a good time for USA is
on 20 meters between 1200-1400z. For EU, on 40 meters between
2200-0000z. Also, he will try to look for the US on 40 meters,

9Y4, TRINDAD AND TOBAGO. Babs/DL7AFS and
Lot/DJ7ZG will be active as 9Y4/DL7AFS and 9Y4/DJ7ZG now through
December 6th from Tobago Island (IOTA: SA-009). They will be
active on the usual DX frequencies (80-6 meters), mainly on SSB,

BQ9P STORY. Yuki, JI6KVR, informs OPDX that
the release of the BQ9P Pratas Island DXpedition Story is now

C56, THE GAMBIA. Andy, G0VUH, will be active
as C56/G0VUH from January 16-30th. He is expected to be on every
day and during the nights on all bands. He will have a big beam
from 20-10 meters and two verticals that are combined for 80
meters. QSL via the home callsign G0VUH.
CX, URUGUAY. Raul, CX7BY, in Montevideo,
plans to be active in the CQWW DX CW Contest as a
Single-Op/Single Band (20m)/High Power entry. QSL via CBA.
DX HOLIDAY DINNER. Floyd, N5FG, informs OPDX
and its reader: "Holiday Greetings to you and your family.
This year's Magnolia DX Association DX Dinner will be held on
Saturday, December 6th at Montana's in Gulfport. Montana's is on
Airport Road (off 49 toward the airport.. just south of I-10). It
will start PROMPTLY at 6 P. M. (Please be on time) This year's
program will be the PZ5A 'GOPACK' operation for the CQ WW SSB
Test. We WILL have some GREAT DOOR PRIZES for the raffle tickets,
and, of course, MY usual "interesting door prizes". For
those that are not familiar with Montana's, they have a LARGE
buffet with plenty of "meat items " and veggies as well
as seafood, including shrimp etofee. The price this year will be
same as last year-- 15.00 USD and that includes your meal, tax,
and tip and drink, as well as the entertainment. If you can
attend, please send me your check for 15.00 USD for each attendee
in your party. Please send this in as soon as possible, as I need

EY8, TAJIKISTAN (160m/Contest Op). Nodir,
EY8MM, reports that he is planning to operate 160 meters the
night before CQWW CW Contest and the morning after the contest
(0000 until his sunrise). He will use a Delta vertical on 55m
tower. Skeds are welcome via E-mail at: nmt@at-communication.com.
Nodir states, "Unfortunately no 160m in the contest itself
because I am planning SO SB 80m entry (vertical quad North to
South and another quad East-West)."
HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLANDS. Jon, N0JK, states,
"The HC8N station will be active on 160m November 24th
through December 1st. I plan to be active in the evenings from
local sunset at 0000 utc to European sunrise, and again in the
morning 1100 - 1200 utc, plus all night in the WW CW. K5KA
installed a sloping dipole last year that appears to have about 5
dB gain over the existing 1/4 wave vertical to Europe. We plan to
install a second sloping dipole to improve the signal to the far
East and Japan."
HH2, HAITI. Craig, AH8DX, will be active as
HH2/AH8DX in the ARRL DX Phone Contest as a Single-Op/All

HZ, SAUDI ARABIA. Tom, SM0CXU, will be active
as HZ1AB in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 29-30th) as
Single-Op/Single Band (15m) entry. QSL via K8PYD.
IOTA NEWS...
AF-051. Leo, 3XY1L, will try to be
active as 3XY1L/p from Rooma Island on November 30th. It
will be a one day operation only on 10 meters between
1100-1600z.
NA-027. Len/VE9MY and Linda/VE9GLF will
again be active from Newfoundland (CIsA NF-001 for the
Canadian Islands Award) between now and December 1st.
Look for them on the usual IOTA/Island and DX
frequencies.
SA-086. (Update) The Atacama Desert DX
Group that will be on the air as 3G2D from Damas Island
IOTA (DICE ICE-201) will also activate the lighthouse (LH
0029) between November 26-28th. Activity will be 160-6

J3, GRENADA. Paul, J37KF, will be active in
the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 29-30th). Entry class

J6, ST. LUCIA (Op Needed!). The J6DX team is
looking for an additional opetor for their 2004 trip. This is a
two week vacation style trip for the WPX RTTY (M/S) and ARRL CW
(M/M) contests. The scheduled dates are February 11-25th. If you

KH8, AMERICAN SAMOA. Lee, KH6BZF, sent out
the following press release on November 20th: "Amateur Radio
continues to grow with new Amateur Radio associations ready to
join the IARU-International Amateur Radio Union. On November 4th,
2003, a formal meeting of the new 'American Samoa Amateur Radio
Association' (ASARA) was held. Larry Gandy, AH8LG, was elected
president of ASARA. Ms. Uti Gandy, KH6FO, was elected
Secretary/Treasurer and Lee R. Wical, KH6BZF, was made the
liaison officer. All the members present at the founding meeting
voted to apply for membership in Region III of IARU. The growth
of Amateur Radio in central Pacific and the size of IARU will
support the future of Amateur Radio World wide. Amateur Radio
operators World-Wide should welcome the entry of ASARA into
Region III of IARU. JOHN, K1ER, Adviser ASARA"
LX, LUXEMBOURG. Les, G3VQO, will be active as
LX/G3VQO in the CQWW DX CW Contest as a Single-Op/All Band/Low
Power entry. On November 28th, look for Les to be active in the

Jersey DX Association (NJDXA) is pleased to announce the elected

George, KP2/K2ZZ, reports that his new
QSL Manager is W1QJ. George is very active from U.S.
Virgin Island mainly on HF. He was heard this past week
on 10 meters (28410 kHz) after 2130z.
Were you one of the lucky ones to work
KH7U/KH5 from Palmyra Island this past weekend? QSL via
the KH6 Bureau or direct to KH7U. Kimo/KH7U and Pat/NH6UY
were on the island to perform their annual maintenance on
the island's electronic equipment, for the Nature
Conservancy. They are expected to be on the island until
November 24th.
R1, SOUTH SHETLAND ISLANDS. By the time you
read this, Oleg, UA1PBA, should have arrived at the research base
Bellingshausen on King George Island. Oleg is expected ti be here
for about 1 1/2 years. He will be active as R1ANF.
RS0, ASIATIC RUSSIA. Vlad, UA0FZ, will be
active as RS0F in the CQWW DX CW Contest as a Single-Op/All
Band/High Power entry from Zone 19. QSL via W3HNK.
SOUND BITE NEEDED. Glenn, K2FF, reports,
"As you know K2FF (PZ5FF), KD5CQT (PZ5CQ), and W5UE (PZ5UE)
spent a week in Suriname in October and also activated PZ5A in
the CQWW SSB Contest. Well, when we got back home we realized
that we got everyone on tape EXCEPT Randy - PZ5UE. So, what we
are looking for is the possibility that anyone anywhere out there
worldwide might have captured a piece of PZ5UE's CW operating on
tape (i.e., cassette, DVD, wav file, etc). We are trying to
incorporate it along with the others into an official
presentation scheduled for early December. So, does anyone have
PZ5UE (CW) captured on tape?" If so, please contact Glenn,

SU9, EGYPT. Tom, N9NC, will be active as
SU9NC during the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 29-30th)
as a Single-Op/All Band/Low Power entry. QSL via OM2SA.
SV5, DODECANESE. Stathis, SV1DKL (very soon
SV5DKL), informs OPDX that he will participate in the CQWW DX CW
Contest as SV5RDS and as a Single-Op/Single Band (40m)/High Power
entry from the Dodecanese Radio Society. The antenna system to be
used is 4 x half-wave slopers. He will also use a Kenwood
TS-870S, a HF linear amp and complete logistics support. QSL

T32, EAST KIRIBATI. Operators Larry/N2WW,
Bill/K0MP, Barry/N0KV, Greg/W0ZA, Tim/N0ZM, Paul/NO0T,
Cheryl/N0WBV and John/KT0F will be active on Christmas Island
(OC-024) from November 24th through December 8th. This will
include a Multi-2 entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest as T32WW.
Outside the contest, operators will use the own individual T32
callsign. Look for the following callsigns:

TO4, EUROPA. By the time you read this, the
TO4E team should have arrived at Europa by the way of the Navy
boat "La Grandiere". They should also be active and are
expected to be on the air until December 15th. Plans are to have
three stations on the air and their activity will include the
CQWW DX CW Contest (as TO4WW). BAD NEWS for YL chasers. It was
announced this past week that they will NOT have a YL operator
with them as first announced. LAST MINUTE UPDATE: Before going to
print, Rafik, F5CQ, Co-organizer Europa 2003, sent out a press
release that the team would not unload the equipment until the
end of the morning on Monday because of the high tide. He
believes they will not be on the air until Tuesday morning.

TS7, TUNISIA (IOTA Op). A very large
international team of operators are now active as TS7N from
Kerkennah Island (AF-073) until December 1st. With 20 operators
and 5 stations active, look for activity is to be on all bands
160-6 meters CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31. They also plan to be an entry in

VK9L & VK9N, LORD HOWE AND NORFOLK ISLANDS.
Babs/DL7AFS and Lot/DJ7ZG will be active from Lord Howe Island,
February 16-27th, and from Norfolk Island, February 29th through
March 13th. The callsigns will be announced later. Activity will

XV, VIETNAM (Correction to OPDX.635/Update).
Kunihiko, JE7IDA, informs OPDX that it is not he that will be
active as XV2NA in the CQWW DX CW Contest but Naoki, JE7RJZ.
However, Kunihiko is the QSL Manager. Naoki will be staying in Ho
Chi Minh for his job from from November 27th to December 1st. He
is a journalist of a local Japanese TV station. Kunihiko told
OPDX that Naoki may be active as XV2NA only during the CQWW CW
Contest period, November 29-30th because of his job. QSL via

YB0, INDONESIA. Pri, YB0ECT, will participate
in the CQWW DX CW Contest as a Single-Op/All Band/Low Power

ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND. Jim, N6TJ, will once
agin be active as ZD8Z from here between now and December 2nd. He
