4L, GEORGIA. Vakhtang, 4L8A, will be active
in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a
Single-Op/Single Band (10m)/Low Power entry. QSL via OZ1HPS.
5U, NIGER. Reports indicate that Jim (Bull),
N4HX, has received a callsign, 5U7JB. He is currently working for
the "U.S. Peace Corps" in Niger and is expected to be
there for a longer time.
9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Operators
Stanislav/OK2SG, Vit/OK2WH and Jaroslav/OK2PBM will be active
from Sabah as 9M6/homecall now through November 25th. Their
activity will be on all HF Band, plus 6 meters, on
CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31. QSL via their home callsigns.
A3, TONGA. Paul, A35RK, has informed OPDX
that he is once again active on RTTY after a 6 year
"layoff". He can only run 50 watts, and he is still
trying to sort out some software/computer problems. Also, it has
been so long since Paul did RTTY he states, "It seems like
I've forgotten everything. Please be patient with me." Look
for Paul around 21081 kHz after 2230z and as late as 0330z.
C5, THE GAMBIA. A total of 11 operators will
activate The Gambia from November 20th through December 2nd.
Activity will be on all modes (CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31, SSTV) and
bands (160-6 meters). Operation before the CQWW CW Contest will
be limited. The operators of this international team are: DL9GFB,
LA6FJA, N0DY, OH3BHL, OH9MDV, OH9MM (team leader), YL1ZF, YL2GM,
YL2KL, YL2LY and YL3CW. They will use the callsign C56R outside
of the contest. The callsign C53M will be their callsign in the
CQWW CW Contest. The QSL Manager is OH3RM. The Web page for this

CO, CUBA. Eduardo, CO8LY, will be active in
the next CQWW CW Contest as a Single-Operator/21 MHz/Low Power
entry. QSL via EA7ADH.
CY0, SABLE ISLAND. Activity from here will
start November 15th and last until the 26th. Operators
George/VE3NZ, Nick/VE3EY and Lali/VE3NE will sign CY0MM. Activity
will be on HF bands and 6 meters CW/SSB/RTTY, and include an
entry in the CQWW DX CW Contest. Their Web pages (with an on-line

EA6, BALEARIC ISLANDS. A group of operators
(some EA3s, EA5s and EA6s) will be active as EA6IB in the CQ
World Wide DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a Multi-Single
entry. QSL via the CBA.
EY, TAJIKISTAN. Nodir, EY8MM, will be active
in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a
Single- Op/Single Band (10m)/High Power entry. QSL via K1BV.
FM, MARTINIQUE. Clemens, DL2GAN, will be
active as FM/DL2GAN now through November 28th. Activity will be
on 20-10 meters, CW and SSB. QSL via DL2GAN, direct or the
bureau.
FW, WALLIS ISLAND. Franck, FK8HC, will be
active from here between November 12-19th. His callsign is not
sure, possibly a FW8?? callsign. He will be operating with 100
watts and R-8 Vertical on 40-10 meters. QSL are via VK4FW.
HC4, ECUADOR. A group of operators from
Ecuador will activate HC4T from Playas de Tonsupa, from the
Province of Esmeraldas for a 24 hour period on November 16th.
Their activity will be NON-STOP on 20/15 meters CW/SSB. The
members of the group are: HC1NAP, HC1JL, HC4GF, HC1NER, HC1DY,
HC1CB, HC4MZ, HC1SG, HC1KX, KC1ST, HC1HF, HC1VB and HC1AKP. QSL
via EA7FTR.
HC8, GALAPAGOS Islands (Ham Radio Hotel). A
DXpedition rental QTH is now available on the Galapagos Islands
at the hotel "Hogar de Don Guido", owned and operated
by the family of Guido Rosillo, HC8GR, on the seaside town of
Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, San Cristobal Island, Galapagos.

HH, HAITI. Hans/DL7CM and Sid/DM2AYO will
operate from here between January 30th and February 16th. Their
callsigns will be HH2/DL7CM and HH2/DM2AYO. They were not able to
obtain a special 4V prefix by the Haitian PTT. Their activity
will be on all HF bands 160-6 meters on CW, SSB and RTTY. Their
main goal is to be on the low bands, 6m and RTTY. For more info

HV, VATICAN CITY. Look for HV5PUL to be
active this week (November 12-15th) to celebrate the
opening/starting of the academic year at the "Pontificia
Universita Lateranense".
HZ, SAUDI ARABIA. Thomas, SM0CXU, plans to be
active at HZ1AB during the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November
23-24th) as a Single-Op/Single Band (15m ?) entry. QSL via K8PYD.
IOTA NEWS - JA IOTAs. Takeshi
"TAKE", JI3DST, will be activating a few JA IOTAs over
the next several weeks. His callsign will be JI3DST/6 from all
islands, and activity will be on 40/17/15/12/10/6 meters SSB. QSL
via the Bureau or direct on the address on QRZ.com (Bureau is
Best) His planned schedule is as follows:
AS-049. Tokara Island (Kuchino-shima
Toshima-mura Kagoshima-gun Kagoshima-ken, JAPAN). N.A.
and S.A. look for him on 15/10/6 meters. He will have two
stations active here (For EU, AF, OC, AS and for NA and
SA stations). Activity from November 9-17th.
AS-017. Okinawa Island (Okinawa-ken not
a fix QTH; JCC or JCG). Activity from November 18-21st.
AS-079. Miyako Island (Miyako-jima
Hirara-City Okinawa-ken, JAPAN). Activity from November
21st thru December 6th and December 29th thru Janaury
5th.
J3, GRENADA. Operators Don/K2KQ, George/N2GA,
Ann/WA1S and John/KT0F plan to mount a 4-operator, 4-radio
Multi-Multi operation at J3A during the CQWW CW Contest. The
group will mount the usual pre-contest operations. Ann, WA1S,
will be on the air as either J3/WA1S or J38AA starting around
November 12th. She will be on both SSB and CW. Don, K2KQ, will be
on the air as J37ZA after November 20th and John/KT0F will be on
as J3/KT0F. They will make an effort to activate the WARC bands,
but currently have no plans for RTTY or digital modes. Don, K2KQ,
states, "As a group, we are interested in activiating J3 on
EME, but not this time. I'd be interested in an expression of
interest, and if there's enough, we'll make an effort next
time."
JY, JORDAN. JY9QJ will be active in the CQ
World Wide DX CW Contest (November 23-24th) as a Single-Op/All
Band/High Power entry. QSL via DL5MBY.
KH8, MARIANA ISLANDS. Taka/JF2VAX and
Yoshi/JK2VOC will participate in the CQ WW DX CW Contest as
KH0/JF2VAX (in the Single-Op/All Band category), KH0/JK2VOC (in
the Single-Op/All Band category) from the Mariana Islands
(OC-086). QSL via home calls either the bureau or direct:

Before and after the contest, between November 22-25th, they
will operate on all bands (80-6 meters) and modes (SSB/CW). The

MW, WALES (Lighthouse Op). Kevin, MW3AFR/p,
and Melfyn, MW3AGN/p will be activating Caernarfon Lighthouse,
Wales (WAL-003, IOTA EU-005), on November 23rd, weather
permitting. They will be active on 40 meters, starting at
approximately 1000z. QSL via their home callsigns, direct or
bureau.
NJDXA 2002-2003 OFFICERS. During an evening
last week, the members of the North Jersey DX Association elected
the following officers to serve the 2002-2003 term:

P4, ARUBA. Alan, K4AVQ, informs OPDX that he
will be active as P40AV from January 4-18th. Activity will be on
160-10 meters, however, he will be spending extra time on 160/80
meters CW looking for stations that need it for DXCC. QSL via
K4AVQ.
P4 & PJ2/PJ4, ARUBA AND NETHERLANDS ANTILLES.
Carsten, DL1EFD, is expected to be active from Aruba (P4) as
P4/DL1EFD from November 11-17th. Activity will be a holiday style
operations with wire antennas. He will then move to Bonaire (PJ4,
Netherlands Antilles) and be active as PJ4/DL1EFD/p from November
18-22nd. Also, he will in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest
(November 23-24th) as PJ4W and be active as a Single-Op/All
Band/Low Power entry. He will use a beam and dipoles. From
November 26-29th, he will sign as PJ2/DL1EFD/p from Curacao (PJ2,
Netherlands Antilles). This will also be a holiday style
operations with wire antennas. QSL via DL1EFD, direct or via the
Bureau is OK. Also, E-mail request can be obtained at: dl1efd@rrdxa.
PJ7, SINT MAARTEN (FS also possible). Dave,
KM3T, who informed OPDX last week (please refer to OPDX.585) that
he would be active from PJ7UQ's QTH, updates us that with some
luck, he will be active quite a bit on 50 MHz as PJ7/KM3T and
maybe FS/KM3T before and after the CQWW CW Contest.

informs OPDX that he has about 60 IRCs and will sell them

Ferdi, XQ5SM, Chairman Southern Cross DX
Group, reports that the following Chilean stations were
active in the JIDX Phone Contest 2002 this past weekend:
CE3NR - 28 MHz High Power
CE4Y (by CE4FXY) - 21 MHz High Power
XQ1IDM - 21 MHz High Power
CE4P (by CE4PBB) - 14 MHz High Power
CE4EBJ - 7 Mhz Low Power
3G5A (by XQ5SM & CE4USW) - Multi Single

for details). They're all members of Southern Cross DX
Group.
NOT THE MANAGER! Nobby, W4UFO, is NOT
the QSL Manager for EP3SMH. He informs OPDX, "After
many tries, I can't get cards myself from Moshen, EP3SMH,
or Ali, EP3CQ/EP3PTT, nor any E-mail response." He
states that he would like to offer his services as QSL
Manager for any EP station.
Silvano, I2YSB, informs OPDX that the
logs for the recent FO/I2YSB and FO/IK2GNW operation from
Rurutu (OC-050) in the Austral Islands are now available
at: http://digilander.libero.it/i2ysb.
The Low-Land DXpedition Team's
"2002 Caribbean Tour" to Dominica and
Montserrat ended on November 2nd. The team made 16,539
QSOs in 7 days in Dominica (J7 -- this includes a loss of
an amplifier and many power outages) and 31,886 QSOs from
Montserrat (VP2M - including some 7700 contacts during
the CQWW DX SSB Contest). They had 2 stations active
around the clock on 160-10 meters on the modes CW, SSB,
RTTY, PSK and SSTV. Many stations were worked on the low
bands, their Titanex verticals worked wonderfully for
them. QSL cards can now be submitted, via direct or by
the Bureau. The on-line logs are now on their Web site.
They request to please sign the guestbook, and tell them
how you experienced this year DXpedition. Their Web page

Operators Jorge/OA4BHY/p,
Manuel/OA4AHW/p, Rene/OA4/DL2JRM/p and Klaus/OA4/DL9FAW/p
were active this past weekend from Pachacamac Island
(IOTA SA-052), Southwest from Lima. QSLs go via their
home calls.
T77CD QSLs. Please note that cards for
Giovanni, T77CD, should be routed direct via his QSL
Manager, I0MWI: Stefano Cipriani, Via Taranto 60, 00055
Ladispoli - RM, Italy. Do not send your QSLs direct to
T77CD as this does not speed up the process. All cards
received (with SASE) up to November 5th were answered by
mail.
Yves, F6CTL, has received the TX5BTY QSL
card from the printer. This activity was by Alain, F2HE,
from Tubuai Island in the Australes (FO). The card will
be mailed soon.
Effective November 1, 2002, Gary, KI6T,
will handle North American QSLs for Olga, UU5YL. Gary can
probably help if you have any outstanding QSLs prior to
November.
RW2, KALININGRAD. The UA2 Contest Club will
be active as RW2F in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November
23-24th) as a Multi/2 entry. QSL via DK4VW. Their sunrise is
0626z and sunset is 1423z.
SILENT KEY. OPDX was informed this past
weekend of the passing of Rick, KH7RS (EX-KH6JEB), Saturday
afternoon after a short medical problem. Rick was a noted DXCC
Honor Roll member, QCWA member and for his activity on Kure
Island. OPDX and its reader would like to send out our deepest
sympathy to Rick's family and friends.
SU9, EGYPT. Fran, EA7FTR, informs OPDX that
Roger, G3PVU, is active from here as SU9VU. He is working in the
Northern Sinai at El Gorah near El Arish. QSL via EA7FTR. Roger
will be active on 20 and 15 meters CW/SSB during his free time.
Hours of activity will always depend on his work schedule. Roger
was heard this past week on 21260 and 21240 kHz between 1030 and
1400z. He has also been heard in past weeks on 20 meters SSB
between 1830 and 2300z.
T32, EAST KIRIBATI. Chuck, T32NCC, found time
inbetween his surfing to be active this past weekend on 28520 kHz
around 1745z. He is on Fanning Island (OC-084). QSL via N6GDS.
T8, PALAU. Mark, WQ7X, will be here from
November 20-25th. His callsign will be T88SP. His activity will
be on 80-6 meters, including the WARC bands and on CW/SSB. His
antennas are verticals and dipoles for lower bands, and a beam
for 20-6m. He will use 1kw for power. His QSL Manager is SP5DRH:

T9, BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA. Joey, W5BAK, informs
OPDX that he will be traveling to Sarajevo, December 17-23rd. He
will sign T9/W5BAK unless he has time to get a T98xxx callsign.
Activity will be in the evening hours local time on 10/15/20
meters on SSB/PSK31/RTTY. QSL via his home callsign W5BAK.
V2, ANTIGUA & BARBUDA. Bud, AA3B, will be
active as V26K from November 21-24th. Activity will be CW only,
and he plans to be in the CQWW CW Contest. QSL via AA3B.
V31, BELIZE. Joe/K8JP and his wife Beverly
will be returning to Belize this November. They hope to be there
from November 20, 2002 through April, 2003. Joe will once again
sign V31JP. He informs OPDX that he mainly operates CW with some
SSB and, maybe, RTTY. Operations will be on 160-6 meters. If he
is there in time, Joe will do a Single-Op 40 meters entry in the
CQ WW CW Contest. He also plans on being active in the ARRL DX CW
and SSB Contests as a SO/AB/HP entry and many other contests, as

V31, BELIZE (IOTA Op). Jay/K0BCN/V31MX and
Cal/V31MF will be on Caye Caulker (NA-073) from December 11-17th.
Activity will be on 20/15/10 meters SSB, and they will be in the
10 meter contest as V31MX as a Multi-Single. QSL via K0BCN direct
or bureau.
VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND. Remember to look for
Hirotada, JA0SC, to be active from here as VK9LI from November
13-18th (Please refer to OPDX.582). His activity will be mainly
on SSTV (14233/21343 kHz) and RTTY (14080 and 21080 kHz). QSL via
JA0SC.
VU, INDIA. Jig, AD6TF, informs OPDX that he
will be active as VU3JDI in the CQWW CW Contest (in Zone 22) as a
Single-Op/All Band/High Power entry. There will be some activity
before and after the contest mainly on CW.
YO, ROMANIA. Jean Michel, F6AJA, will be in
Bucharest from November 12-17th and if he can find a station to
operate he will sign YO/F6AJA.
ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS. Pete, N2LM, will be on
Grand Cayman Island from November 23rd through December 1st,
using the callsign ZF2PD. He plans to operate 80-6 meters CW/SSB.

ZF, CAYMAN ISLANDS. Operators John/K6AM,
Roland/K9LA, Mike/K9MK, Dale/KG5U, Blake/N4GI, Daniel/N9XX and

the CQ Worldwide CW Contest (November 22-24th). QSL to W5ASP (CBA
