* PLEASE NOTE: The report "could" contain
"Pirate/SLIM" operations. As always, you never know -
"Work First Worry Later" (WFWL).
3C, EQUATORIAL GUINEA (Update). Vitaly,
VE6JO, has informed OPDX that he has received a scanned copy of
his license via E-mail. He has requested the callsign 3C2A but
was issued 3C2MV. He will try to change it if the extra premium
cost will not be too high. Vitaly has provided some more info
that was omitted on the original posting (OPDX.580). This
operation is planned from the capital city of Equatorial Guinea -
Malabo located on Bioko Island (IOTA AF-010). And now the bad
news. Vitaly is still waiting for the visa. It cannot be issued
until a person with local residence status sends an invitation.
He states that he is looking for such a individual, but it does
not look promising at this point. He was expected to be in
3C-land around November 2-24th. If you know a local resident and
can help Vitaly, let the editor know, and he will relay the
message to him.
4G, PHILIPPINES (Update/Change). Dave, N2NL,
reports that his callsign and entry in the CQ World Wide DX CW
(November 23-24th) has changed. He will now sign 4G1A and be
Single Op/All Band/High Power entry. Dave states all QSOs will be
confirmed via the Bureau.
5Z, KENYA. Alex, PA1AW, reports that there
has been a few DXCluster spots of 5Z4DZ on 30 meter CW and 15
meters RTTY which are not real. He states that in Kenya, 30
meters is not allowed, and Alex (5Z4DZ) does not work RTTY yet.
Meanwhile, Alex has been active on 20/17/15 meters. Watch 14025,
18074 and 21290 kHz (at various time, between 1530-1900 and after
2330z). His QSL Manager, PA1AW, also reports that the log is
updated again and now contains 14,728 QSOs through
13-October-2002 1400z at: http://www.qsl.net/5z4dz. There is no QSL
backlog, and all incoming cards are anwered the same day.
60 METER EXPERIMENTAL BAND OPERATION. Members
of the Team-Zone 2 (see OPDX.579) have obtained authorization
from Industry Canada to conduct experimental operations on the 60
meter band from October 22-24th (possibly other times...if time
permits). Their callsign will be VA2BY. QSL requests via direct
only for QSOs with authorized stations and SWL reports via VE3BY.
E-mail SWL reports are also welcome via radiotoronto@yahoo.com.
For further info on frequencies, operation times etc. see the Web
page at: http://www.qsl.net/teamzone2.

21015 kHz. A special QSL card with this very rare prefix will be
sent to each and every contact they make in January 2003. If you
want to send them your QSL card please do so VIA THE BUREAU ONLY.
You don't need to send them your card to receive their QSL card,
however, they will greatly appreciate very much if you do send
them one. DO NOT QSL DIRECT or to the operator you QSO with...

EA8, CANARY ISLANDS (OLD TIMERS AT EA8ZS). A
press release from Tim, N4GN: "The Quarter Century Wireless
Association (QCWA) is pleased to announce an outing of seasoned
contesters to EA8, a North African hot spot. Their party
represents some 250 years of cumulative contesting experience.
They think it's CQWW contest time this coming weekend? Isn't it?
CW or SSB? Indeed, the amateur radio population is aging at the
speed of light and new sources of inspiration are scarce. This
group decided to be at it before it is too late. Moreover, they
convinced some selected youngsters to join them, just in case -
and an M.D. is accompanying them to ensure their well-being. Good
sleep, reasonable blood pressure and functioning stomach. So,
please look forward and backward to some serious caramba on all
bands as EA8ZS hits the airwaves. The operator roster includes -
in addition to the host, Manolo, EA8ZS--OH0XX, OH1MA, OH1RY,
OH2BH, OH2JTE, OH2MM, OH2PM and OH2TA. This coming weekend? With
six (6) Yaesu radios and relating fire power with so many Finnish
Antenna beams that they cannot count for. This operation counts
for all QCWA awards."

20th, for a vacation to French Polynesia to celebrate their 16th
anniversary. Among many other stops, they will be staying at
FO5IW/FO8DX, Stan's, Mai Moana Resort on Motu Ite in the Bora
Bora Lagoon (OC-067). They will only be at that location on
October 30th and 31st. He hopes to get on the air in his spare
time using his former FO0LM callsign if the government will
re-issue that old callsign to him. If he makes it on the air from
Stan's station, Murray expects the operation would be on the
higher bands (40-10 meters) on SSB. Murray, states,
"Ironically, on the CQ WWDX weekend (Oct. 26-27), I will
likely end up in a private villa on Huahine Island with operating
permission but no equipment since I'm not taking any along. I'm
too afraid if I take equipment, the wife will be sitting on the
beach alone all weekend long... ..the things we do for wives,
eh?"

HV4NAC, HV0A AND 1A0KM LOGS NEWS.
Sergio, IK0FTA, provided OPDX with the following (edited)
information: "Francesco, IK0FVC, informs all Radio
Amateurs that unfortunately, due to a failure to HV4NAC's
computer, all files containing the logs through December
31, 1999, have crashed. Francesco is very disappointed
for the situation, but he can't confirm any more QSOs
made previous of this date. All others logs concerning
HV0A are still active in another Hard disk, and QSOs can
be confirmed without problems. Regarding 1A0KM, all logs
are active, but, please, don't ask Francesco to confirm
QSOs previous to 1994 activities because he doesn't have
the logs. Please, QSL to him directly only."

Dave, KZ8Y, is the QSL Manager for
TG9NX, 4S7AVR, 4S7AR, 4S7NMR, N8DCJ/8P6, and 8Q7AZ. Jon,
WB8YJF, is the "Y" letter manager for the 8th
Area QSL Bureau and reports that he has a TON of cards
waiting for him. Jon states that he cannot find an E-mail
address for him, and he has sent Dave a bunch of notices
about getting his cards w/o any reply. Jon is pretty sure
Dave simply dosn't accept bureau cards and recommands NOT
to send QSLs via the bureau for these stations. He is
going to return the cards back to the original bureaus
marked either "unclaimed" or QSL DIRECT ONLY.
Jarno, OH6NJ, informs OPDX that almost
every direct QSL from last summer's OH6AW (EU-101) and
OH6AW/8 (EU-184) IOTA operations has been answered.
Operators PS8ET/p, PS8DX/p, PS8PY/p,
PS8HF/p, PU8PYK/p and with some other friends activated a
new DIB Island over the past weekend in the
"Jamboree On The Air". The new number is DIB

SILENT KEY. Well known DXer and a teacher for
amateur radio operators in Argentina, Jorge F. Vrsalovich, LU7XP,
became a Silent Key (SK) on October 12th at the age of 74. OPDX
and its readers would like to send out our deepest sympathy to
his family and friends.

memorial station W2MM to be active during October 24-26th from

bands. QSL to W1DLP with SASE.

T88FS (Op. JH6RTO). QSL via their home callsigns in QRZ.com.
TX0, CHESTERFIELD ISLANDS. Two Italian
operators, Paolo/IZ0EVI and Luca/IZ6DSQ are currently active as
TX0AT from Long Island (OC-176, FK-082) until October 22nd. They
may also activate Loop Island (FK-006). Most of their activity
seems to be on 20 and 10 meters (14227, 14260, 28460 and 28495
kHz). There have been many concerns raised over this operation
because of their CB/Freeband activity. It seems this type of
operation is legal from New Caledonia, which would include the
Chesterfield Islands. There is no power limit, and the band plan
for this activity must take place between 26.965 and 27.855 MHz.
QSL via IZ0CKJ: A.Roma, Via Sterparo 43, 03023 Ceccano-FR, ITALY.

Rose, PO Box 393, Junction, Texas, 76849 USA, with SAE and
appropriate postage, GS or IRC. Cards received via the bureau and
any cards without SASE will be answered via the bureau. Their
main focus will be on 50 MHz, and they will use a FT-897 with a 7
element beam and 800 watts. However, they will have 100 watts on
