the 7O1YGF operation to Wayne Mills, N7NG, at the Ham Radio Fair
in Friedrichshafen last weekend. Now it's up to the ARRL to make
a decision. The sad new is that Bernd Krueger, DJ7MG, one of the
crew passed away in April 2002.

CORRECTION (OOOPPPS Department). In OPDX.568

up a WRTC 2002 Gallery. Unfortunately, he will not be able to
attend. If you go, take some pics and send them to him for the
Gallery. You can E-mail them to: k8cx@hamgallery.com. Or
burn the pics on a disk and mail it to: Tom Roscoe, K8CX, 857 N.

EA9, MELILLA (Update). Juan, EA7VK, updates
OPDX that the URE group going to Alboran Island (IOTA AF-042),

there could be operations on RTTY. The transmissions on 50Mhz
from the Grid Square IM85LW is new! They expect to put three

(However, it is in Russian)
P5/4L4FN, NORTH KOREA (Upate). Bruce, KK5DO,
informs OPDX that several weeks ago he sent a bunch of equipment
over to Ed, P5/4L4FN. He was in Beijing during the end June and
has collected everything. He is now back in North Korea. Among
the things sent to him was a complete satellite station for AO-40
(less the radio which he has), a Hex Beam and rotor as well as an
addition to his Butternut antenna for 6m/12m/17m. In the next few
weeks he will assemble these items and make them operational. Ed
will start making some satellite contacts on AO-40, phone only.
The Hex Beam should allow him to have a better signal than he has
now, and give him the ability to point at the signals he wants to
hear. The upgrade on the Butternut will allow him to continue to
make 6m contacts and possibly work some further away stations
than he already has. Also included in the package was a copy of
QST that had an article about him by Bernie, W3UR, and the plaque
that was given to him in absence at Dayton, as well as some of
his QSL cards (Bruce thought it would be nice for him to see how
they look in print).
PIRATES REPORTED...
Roger, WA0ETE, QSL Manager for V31KQ
reports receiving numerous QSL card requests for
operations outside of their operating dates of April 23rd
to May 2nd, 2002. Any operations outside of these dates
are most likely the work of PIRATES, as the callsign
V31KQ has not been reissued. There are no plans for
WA0ETE or K0GHK to return to V31 for the remainder of
2002.
Tom Wood, N4CID, reports that it appears
someone is pirating Julian's callsign, ZD7CW. Judging by
the cards Tom has been receiving, the pirate is using CW
and not very active. He/She was on last November, (2001).
ZD7CW, Julian, is no longer active and has been inactive
for several years.
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
The correction QSL info for 4L1RK is not

Walt, G3NYY, informs OPDX that Krissada,
E21EJC (known as "Kob" for short), is concerned
that his QSL route has been published incorrectly
somewhere. He wants it to be known that he does not,
repeat NOT, have a QSL Manager. The only correct QSL
route for E21EJC is direct to the address on www.qrz.com,
or C.B.A., or via the Thai QSL bureau.
Dennis K7BV, now living in CT since
joining the ARRL HQ staff earlier this year, was visiting
(as this was being written) with Luis CT3EE and other
Maderia Island friends July 3-8th. This is a

the WRTC2002 July 9-16th. (See the Web page at: http://www.wrtc2002.org)
Dennis was expected to be quite active on CW signing
CT3/K7BV on HF bands. QSL via Steve, KU9C.
Jim Henry, GI0DVU, QSL Manager for
GI4GTY which is a club callsign, has recently been
receiving several QSL cards for YO5TP, all of which have
been directed via GI4GTY. These have been for operations
in the March-April 2002 period. Neither GI4GTY nor GI0DVU
act as QSL Manager for YO5TP.
Tim, N6WIN, was active this past week
from Aruba, first as N6WIN/P4 and then P40TC later. QSL
both callsigns via N6WIN, Bureau or direct to: Tim Coker,
1379 San Bernardino Rd Apt M, Upland, CA 91786, USA. By
the way, Tim was operating on a honeymoon trip (WOW!).
Josep/EA3BT and Nuria/EA3WL announced
this past week that a Web page has been set up to list
all direct QSLs that they have received for their Congo
operation (TN3B and TN3W). It is listed in order
alphabetically. And you can check it at: http://www.ea3bt.com/congo/congo-qsl_information.htm.
They will try to update it every weekend with all the QSL
cards received during the week. Also, a picture of their
double sized colored QSL is available on the Web site.

after 2130z and 21295 kHz after 1700z. For more details, please
visit the DXpedition homepage at: http://www.qsl.net/su60ww.
THE NETHERLANDS. Alex, PA1AW, informs OPDX
that PA6HQ will represent The Netherlands (IARU Member VERON) in
this year's upcoming IARU Championship Contest. QSLs for PA6HQ go
to PA3CAL. There is also a special PA6HQ award available. For
more details on PA6HQ, check the Web page at: http://www.qsl.net/pa6hq.
WRTC2002 RELEASES OJ CALLSIGNS. The IARU
World HF Championship is right around the corner, within which is

XW, LAOS (Operation Wrap-up!). Champ, E21EIC,
who was active as XW1IC, reports that he made some 5,106 QSOs and
103 countries. Operations were on CW/SSB/RTTY/PSK31/SSTV. He
expects to go back to Laos again in November (maybe for the CQWW
CW Contest). His complete E-mail message with more info on his
operation will be sent to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers as an
additional bulletin.
ZB2, GIBRALTAR. Holger, DL7IO, informs OPDX
that it is holiday time and his family (and one other family) are
planning a round trip through Europe. They are expected to travel
around F/EA/CT/ZB2. Holger guesses ZB2 may be interesting to the
community. The two families will have 3 HAM operators,
DL7IQ/Birgit, DJ7TO/Olaf and DL7IO/Holger. They will be
travelling around and will be in Gibraltar between July 9th (late
evening) and 12th (early morning). They plan to be active at all
times. The operators will sign using ZB2/homecall. QSL will be
via their homecall. They prefer bureau cards or better no cards,
and only an E-mail request for bureau cards. Their E-mail
addresses are as follows:
ZS5, SOUTH AFRICA. Gary/ZS5NK and
Edwin/ZS5BBO will once again be in the HF World Championships.
They will be operating with the callsign ZS5NK, last year they
operated as ZS5T. They are asking all stations to point their
antennas to Africa to work them. They really want to put on a big
show this year. They will be using one of the following: TS870,
TS940 or FT1000MP on a stacked array of TH6's (6 over 6). The
linear is a TL922. They will have a 6 element mono on 10m and
various dipoles on 160m, 80m and 40m. Edwin states, "We also
wish all operators the best of luck for the contest and hope the
propagation gods will be on our side!"
