9A, CROATIAN ISLANDS (IOTA and IOCA activity).
Frane/9A5V, Matko/9A3VM, and Fredi/9A5KV, who activated the
island of Kolocep (which counts as CI-038 for Croatian IOCA
Award) this past weekend, will activate the island of Lopud
(CI-057) September 24-26th. By the way, both islands are also
valid for the IOTA award too (as EU-016). Activity will be on all
bands. QSL to home callsign. Some may remember Frane was active
in the 1999 IOTA contest as 9A2FK/p from the island Sipan
(CI-120, JN82WR). He made some 800+ QSOs.
9H, MALTA. Wilko, PA3BWK, will be active as
9H3R now until October 1st. He states that most of his activity
will be 20 kHz from the lower band edges. No QSNs were reported
as this bulletin was being prepared. QSL via PA3CBU or via
bureau.
9M6, EAST-MALAYSIA. Brett, VR2BG, will be on
active as 9M6BG now until October 4th. His activity will be CW on
160-6 meters including the WARC bands. Over the past weekend
Brett was heard on 20/17/15/12 meters between 2300-0400z.
C6, BAHAMAS. Look for Gary/KI6T, Glenn/WR6O
and Salvatore/KA6WHA to be active as homecall/C6A between October
26th and November 1st. They will all be active as C6AGS in the
CQWW SSB Contest as a Multi/Single entry. QSL C6AGS via KI6T.
E4, PALESTINE. Ayar, OZ6ACD, will be active
as E44/OZ6ACD from Hebron again. The length of his activity is
unknown at this time. No QSNs have been reported as this bulletin
was being prepared, but his operation was to have started as of
September 17th. QSL via OZ1ACB.
HI, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. "The 59(9)
DXReport" reports that Julio, AD4Z, will be active between
November 26th and December 3rd as HI3JH. Also, look for him as
HI3K in the CQWW CW Contest. QSL via AD4Z.
IOTA NEWS...
AS-041. Takeshi, JI3DST, will be active
as JI3DST/4 from Oki Archipelago (Oki-Gun Shimane),
beginning at 0800z September 23rd, lasting until 2200z
September 25th. Activity will be on 17/15/12/10 meters
(40/80 meters SSB for JA). QSL via the JARL Bureau or
direct to: Takeshi Funaki, 2-18-26 Hannan-Cho Abeno-Ku,

AS-067. Takeshi, JI3DST, is planning a
trip to Uji Archipelago in October with JA4PXE AND
JF6WTY.
AS-100. Jan, 4X1VF, reports that he will
lead a group of hams to operate from Akhziv Island,
October 23rd. They will use the callsign 4Z0A. They will
have 3 stations active between 0530-1400z on 10, 15, 20
meters CW/SSB. They are obliged to leave the island

NA-148. Tony/WF1N and Lou/W1DIG had to
cancel their operation scheduled for Sept. 17-20th due to
Hurricane Floyd. Storm surges would have made landing
difficult and/or unsafe even after "Floyd" has
passed! They cannot reschedule the operation until next
year.
LU, ARGENTINA. LU4FM will be active in the
next CQWW RTTY Contest as a Multi/Multi entry. This will be the
first RTTY contest from this station.
NOW STATESIDE. Mamtaz, S21J/KF6WJY, reports
to OPDX that he is now stateside in Albuquerque, NM. Her husband
Saif, S21A/KF6WJZ, is working in the U.S. Her daughter Maria's
(age 15) callsign is S21JA/KF6WJX, and she is also stateside.

OH0B, "MARTTI IS BACK HOME"! The
following is a press release from Tim, N4GN:
"OH2BackHome - and to go to Aland Islands, OH0B"
Martti has returned to his native Finland after his almost 6
years in Asia--and several new DXCC counters and contest
operations under his belt.
But he will not stay long; just pack up and proceed for
another outing in Aland Islands, launching a new callsign
OH0B. They have rebuilt their original site with multiple
direction antennas on all bands. Array Solutions, WX0B, has
furnished their station with a two-radio operating
automation.
Why not welcome Martti back home this coming weekend? He
will run 24-hours non-stop in the SAC SSB Contest, starting
12 UTC on Saturday.

PY, BRAZIL. Alex, PY1KS, reports that he will
be active in the CQWW RTTY Contest September 25-26th as a Single
Op/All Band Low Power entry. He states his best band will be 10
meters.

Spyros, 5B4MF, reports to please remove
any reference to IK8DYD because he has not been Spyros's
QSL Manager for many years now. Also, please remove any
reference to G0KUB because this was his old callsign in
the UK from 1988-92. QSL only to his new number/code of
the Cyprus Post office at: Spyros Stavrinides, P.O.Box
29129, 1621 Nicosia, Cyprus. By the way, the above
information applies to H22H (his contest callsign), C40A
(old contest callsign), H25MF and 5B25MF (old special
callsign).

already sent QSL cards direct or via bureau, do NOT send
again, as he will answer all cards within the next month.

J41DKL AND J41Y QSL CARDS OFF AT BUREAU.
Efstathios, SV1DKL/EX, reports that he finally received
the full colored QSL cards from the printer after a
misunderstanding with the typographer. These cards are
for Efstathios last year's special callsigns (J41DKL and
J41Y) where he participated in the CQWW and CQ WPX
Contests. He informed OPDX that all cards should be
finished for mailing by the end of last weekend. All QSLs
will be ready to be delivered to the bureau of SV1SV, in
the Radio Amateur Assn of Greece headquarters by
Wednesday morning.
Mome, Z32ZM, informs OPDX that you can

"Please no cards via bureau",
states Leif, SM0BFJ. Only QSL 5X1D, 9Q5TE and 9X/SM5DIC
direct to SM0BFJ. Leif states he has received some cards
via the Bureau, but did not mention what he is going to
do with them.
SPECIAL EVENT. Carlos, CT1END, reports that
special event station CR8END, in Massam, Portugal, will be active
daily (during various periods of the day) around +/- 14.180 in
order to inform the world about the Timor Loro-Sae tragedy. To
help the Timorese in this very dificult times Carlos states all
QSLs request will be paid out of his own pocket. All SASE
received with IRCs/USDs will be converted in funds and put in the
Timor Loro-Sae help fund Bank account. QSL via CT1END.
SPECIAL EVENT. GianFederico, IK0AZG, reports
to OPDX to look for special event station IR0MFP (Millennium For
Peace) on the air next September 23-24th (last 100 days to 2000).

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for UU4JZB/P to be active
on October 1-4th, during the international meeting of
speleologists in Crimea on Chatyr-Dag mountain (1527m, LOC
KN74DS), near Marble Caves (the most beautiful caves of the
Europe). Activity is planned to be on all HF bands + 2m, CW and
SSB. Operators are: Rusty/UU2JQ, Ken/UU2JZ, Yuri/UU4JQE,
Mike/UU4JV, Toly/UU5JLW and Yuri/UU0JX. A special photo QSL and
photo award with a beautiful view of Marble caves will be
available via QSL Manager UU2JQ, Rustam R. Muhametzianov, Mate
Zalki st.9-32, Simferopol 95053, Crimea, Ukraine. To qualify for
"CRIMEAN CAVES" award, amateurs and SWL's around the
world must collect 10 points. QSO with UU4JZB/P gives 5 points;
UU1JA, UU2JQ ,UU2JZ, UU3JM, UU4JAA, UU4JQE, UU4JV, UU4JXL,
UU5JLW, UU7JF, UU8J, UU9JT, UU0JG, and UU0JX - 2 points; other
QSO with Crimean amateurs (prefix UU)- 1 point. Dupe contacts is
valid on different bands or modes. All contacts since September
1, 1994, are valid. The award fee is 10 IRCs for world, 6 IRCs
for CIS, 5 IRCs for Ukraine. Send your applications signed by two
amateurs and fee to award manager UU2JQ (IRCs only PSE, better
registered mail with return notification.)
SPECIAL PREFIX. Look for EO55JM to be active
October 25-27th, to celebrate the 55 years of libration of the
Ukraine. The activity will be a major operation by the Crimea
Contest Club and the QSLs will be via KG6AR Chris Williams, 1117

SV5, DODECANESE. Geza, HA4XG, will spend his
holiday at Faliraki, Rhodes Island (EU-001) between September
28th and October 5th. He will use the callsign SV5/HA4XG/p.
Activity will be on CW/SSB using an IC-735 and vertical antenna
on 40 meters and up. QSL via home callsign direct or via bureau.
YJ, VANUATU. Ed, K8VIR (ZL4IR), will be
active on Iririki Island (OC-035) as YJ0AIR for only a few more
days. Check around the IOTA frequencies on or near 14260 and
21260 kHz. QSL direct via W8WC.
Z3, MACEDONIA. Look for YL operator IV3FSG to
be active from Skopje until the end of September on a
humanitarian mission. She hopes to be active as Z38/IV3FSG on SSB
and RTTY. QSL via IV3FSG.
ZP, PARAGUAY. A multi-national team will
activate ZP as a Multi/Multi entry for the 1999 CQWW CW contest.
Dale/N3BNA (V26A), Darrell/AB2E (V26E), Jorge/CX6VM (CX5X), and
Juan/ZP5MAL will activate Juan's contest callsign ZP6T on his
farm near Asuncion for the contest. The plans call for some ops
to be in ZP from November 20th until December 6th. Also, look for
ZP6/N3BNA who will enter in the ARRL 160M Contest. An inverted L
for 160 meters, with beverages will be added as well as a new 40
meters yagi to Juan's world-class antenna farm. Also, planned to
be added is a 3 element wire yagi identical to the one built at
the V26B site and designed by WX0B. Because ZP is considerably
rare on CW, much attention will be paid before and after the
contest to work the highest open WARC band. Also, attempts will
be made frequently on 160/80 meters CW after the CQWW Contest.

and ZP6/CX6VM via W3HNK. Do NOT QSL ZP6T via W3HNK.
