QSL INFO AND NEWS...
Toshi, JA1ELY, regrets to inform
everyone that he is not the QSL Manager of XU1SS. He
states that he doesn't know who this is, and it seems to
be a pirate. Please, do not send him a QSL.
QSL UPDATE/CORRECTION. Last week we
mentioned to QSL TA4/DL5MAE via DL5MAE, Wolfgang
Schlaffer, Am Rosengarten 3, W-8059 Luess, Germany. This
address is WRONG, however it may reach him, but will take
a much longer time because it is the old zip-code which
was used years ago. Helmut, DL7MAE, the brother of
DL5MAE, states the best address is: Wolfgang Schlaffer,
Luess, Am Rosengarten 3, 85467 Neuching, Germany (BTW,
the address is the same QTH for Helmut and they both QSL
100% via the bureau).
Alan, K4AVQ, will be closing the books
on his P40AV operation in Aruba 1997-98. If anyone needs
a card let him know soon.

SV9, CRETE. Walt/G3NYY, Tim/G4VXE, Dave/G4FRE
and Meg/G7FRE (YL operator) will be active as SV9/homecall from
here (EU-015) between June 29th and July 6th. They plan to be
active on the following modes: PSK31, Hellschreiber, Baudot RTTY
and CW. Activity will be on all bands, 160-6 meters, the WARC
bands included, with some SSB on 50 MHz only. QSL SV9/G3NYY via
G3NYY, SV9/G4VXE via G3SWH, SV9/G4FRE via WW2R and SV9/G7FRE via
WW2R.
VP9, BERMUDA. Ed, N0ED, will be operating as
VP9/N0ED from July 15-25th, including the IOTA contest (24 hour
CW section). Activity will be CW only on the WARC bands and 160
meters (QRN permitting) before the contest. He will use only a

hopes to give everyone who needs it as a multiplier. QSL via
N0ED. His E-mail address is: n0ed@qsl.net.
Ed will put more information (possibly logs) on: http://www.qsl.net/n0ed.
ZD8, ASCENSION ISLAND. Paul Hutley, KF4OOX,
is now active as ZD8V as of June 15th at 0030z from Ascension
Island in the middle of the South Atlantic Ocean. Paul wrote to
OPDX stating that he is currently active from 1800-2400z on 10-20
meters. He mentioned that he can also be found sometimes on the
14.247 DX Net for a couple of hours. He likes doing the DX nets
and thinks they are fun. However, Paul spends most of his time on
10 meters around 28495 kHz. Paul reports that he needs 8 more
states for his WAS and will be looking for them on the air (OPDX
will try to find out what states he needs). Over the past weekend
Paul indicated that he would like to be active on "Kids
Day" (June 19th). He also plans to be active during
"Field Day" and will be looking for Mercer Co. (PA club
station) and for the Brevard Co. (FL) stations. In the coming
future Paul mentions that he will have scouts over (on the
island) for JOTA. However, Paul does state that he will call or
take calls from anyone. Please note, that in the past when a ZD8
station has tried to support "Kid's Day or JOTA" the
adult hams have tried to contact the ZD8 station. Paul requests
and states, "Please if we are trying to support the kids,
then let us do that and wait for another day for the ZD8 contact.
As the children do not find this very enjoyable and this sets
them against Ham Radio."
