3V, JERBA ISLAND (Tunisia, New IOTA!).
Giovanni, I5JHW, informs OPDX that he together with Sergio/I5NSR,
Danio/I5OYY, Sauro/IK5EKB, Roberto/ IK5FTQ, Marcello/IK5JAN,
Gabriele/IK5OSA, Gabriele/IK5ZTW; and 3 OM operators of the 3V8BB
club station (Lotfi, Ramzi, Fouzi) and 3 YLs (Zaida, Sarra, Ines)
will activate Jerba Island (a new IOTA) between June 18-21st.
Their callsign will be 3V8J. Activity will be on 160/80/
40/20/15/10/2 meters and 17 meters (the only WARC band authorized
in Tunisia). Operations will be on CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via
I5JHW direct or bureau.
4L, GEORGIA (6 meters operation). Omari,
4L5O, reports that he is active on 6 meters (50 MHz) and will be
there all summer. His antenna is a 5 element yagi w/50 watts. He
can be found daily between 50.110 and 50.130 MHz CW/SSB (no time
given).
5N99MSV AND 5N0MSV WRAP-UP. Stan, OK1JR,
reports to OPDX that he is back in OK-land (Czech Republic). He
wants to thank all the hams who worked him as 5N0/OK1JR, 5N99MSV
and 5N0MSV. QSL direct, and he states that he will send them out
at the end of the month. If you are not sure about your QSO,

BY, CHINA. The "DX News Sheet"
reports that Jack, WB8SMV, will be active until the end of July
from several club stations including BY1DX in the AA CW Contest,
and June 21st through July 14th from BY4LB in Qingdao. Activity
will mainly be CW.
CU8, AZORES ISLAND (IOTA operation). Look for
Moreira/CT1AHU and Lionel/ CU3EJ to be active July 21-31st from
Flores Island (EU-089) as CU8/CT1AHU and CU8/CU3EJ. They will be
entring the IOTA Contest in the Island DXpedition class with the
callsign CU8I. QSL to CU3EJ. During their journey to Flores, they
will also be active as CU3/CT1AHU from Terceira Island (EU-003).
E4, PALESTINE. Look for Radek, OK1FHI, to be
active until June 23rd. His activity will include the AA CW
Contest. Radek will sign as E41/OK1FHI from the QTH of David,
OK1DTP, at Beit Jala, West Bank. QSL via his home callsign.
EL, LIBERIA. Start looking for Eric, EA5GIY,
to be active as EL2VO during June or July. He is currently on a
professional business trip through the country. QSL via EA5GIY.
FS, SAINT MARTIN. Operators Rob/PA5ET,
Ronald/PA3EWP, Peter/PA4EA, Martin/PA4WM, Dennis/PA7FM, and
Henk/PA3GCV will be active August 5-11th. They will sign
FS/homecall. Activity will be on 160-6 meters CW/SSB/ RTTY/SSTV.
Special effort will be on the LF and WARC bands for Europe. They
will have three HF stations along with one 6m station. QSL via

IOTA NEWS...
AS-093. The Yonsei Amateur Radio
Research Asociation (YARRA), HL0Y, club station of Yonsei
University, has planned their 18th DXpedition to Huksan
Island. They will sign HL0Y/4 from July 23-30th. Activity
will be on 40-10 meters (including the WARC bands)
CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL via YARRA (HL0Y), Yonsei University, 134
Shinchon-dong, Seodaemoon-gu Seoul, South Korea.
EU-065. The UBA Section Gulden Spoor
Kortrijk KTK, IOTA DX-pedition team referred to locally
as the Minquiers Boys, have announced that preparation is
now well in hand for their 1999 activity to Isle
d'Ouessant before, during and after the 1999 IOTA
Contest. They are awaiting the official confirmation of
the callsigns TM5K and TM5ON. They plan to use TM5K
during the 1999 IOTA contest and TM5ON outside the
contest. Arrangements have been made with the necessary
local official authorities for their operation and
accommodation sites. Plans are well in hand concerning
the team of 12 including cook, lead by Harvey (ON5SY),
equipment, antennas, transport, catering etc.. QSL is via
ON4ON Danny Commeyne either via the ON bureau or direct
to Danny Commeyne, Rozenlaan 38, 8890 Dadizele, Belgium.

NA-038. Two members of the LOOS DX Gang
will be going to Quebec this summer and plan to activate
Madeleine Island from August 11-14th. Another CISA is
possible, also some activity may be from Prince Edward

J49, CRETE (Special Prefix/Update). Bob,
I2WIJ, informs OPDX that he has received the special callsign
J49WI from the Greece Telecommunication Ministry. He will operate
from July 12-26th and also be an entry in the IOTA Contest with
that callsign. QSL via his home call I2WIJ. Please refer to

JT, MONGOLIA (Update). Laurence
"Flo", GM4DMA, reports that his operations from Central
Mongolia will use the callsign JT1FCR. Equipment will be an
IC706, R7000 and a 3 element 50 MHz beam. Operation will take
place June 19-29th. Please refer to OPDX.411 for more details.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN! Peter, ON6TT/5X1T, is on
route to Kosovo to be joined by Mats, SM7PKK, later in the week.
Their callsigns are to be decided later. Peter states, "We
might be sporadically active, but work has priority."
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
VY1DX was activated in the CQ WPX CW
contest by Hillar, N6HR, as a guest operator. Hillar has
the log and a box of YARA Club QSLs on hand and would be
glad to reply to any QSL requests immediatly!
Pete, MI0BME, was active as GD6IA from
the Isle of Man during this past weekend's ANARTS WW RTTY
Contest. QSL via GD3UMW.
QSL TA4/DL5MAE/P via DL5MAE, Wolfgang

QSL changes for V63KU. Sam, V63KU, will
be closing down by the end of June as well as the P.O.
Box in V6-land. All QSL request after the closing go via
JA6NL through the JA Bureau.
New QSL route for 7Z5OO and PJ5AA. Mike,
K3UOC, informs OPDX that he is changing his QSL route for
all his past operations from N2AU back to W1AF. Since he
expects to be in the USA for several years, Mike is
taking over his own QSL responsibilities once again. Mike
is the trustee of the club station at Harvard University
(W1AF) and is now catching up on a very large backlog of
7Z5OO bureau cards. Those who have not received 7Z5OO or
PJ5AA cards in reply to direct requests should QSL again
via W1AF. So, W1AF is now the QSL route for Mike's recent
operations from 7Z5OO (1994-1998) and PJ5AA (1996-1998)
as well as for these older DX operations: PJ8H (1994),
PJ5/K3UOC (1994), 4M5V (1992-1993), YV5/K3UOC
(1991-1993), PJ1A (1991), US1A (1990), 4M4A (1985-1987),
P46S (1985), PJ2/PJ3/PJ4/PJ5/PJ6/PJ7/K3UOC (1982-1985)
and YV4/YV6/YV9/K3UOC (1979-1987). He has cards for all

Alan, VK4AAR, reports individuals are
still using his old address to QSL. Many announcements
have been made from OPDX and other sources since Alan has
changed his address in late 1998. Alan states mail is
being forwarded....for now at least! Please send direct

R1, MALYJ VYSOTSKIJ. A press release from
Jukka, OH2BR, announced that: "A joint Finnish-Russian team
of 25 operators will show serious activity from Malyj Vysotskij
Island in July on all bands HF to UHF. The team has been issued
the callsign R1MVA. In the IARU Contest a special short callsign
R1MV will be used." Activity will be from July 4-15th. The
joint Finnish-Russian team includes: 8 operators from Finland
(OH2BR, OH5BM, OH5LZY, OH5NE, OH5PT, OH5SC, OH5UX and OH5YB) and
17 operators from the well-known Russian contest team RU1A
(RU1AA, RW1AC, RV1AW, RX1AA, RN1AM, UA1BX, RA1ACJ, UA1ANA, RV1AC,
RU1AS, UA1AAF, RA1ARZ, UA1ACC, RA1ARJ, RA1AIP, Alex and Vadim).
The modes of operation will be: CW, SSB, RTTY, MS, EME, tropo
(Aurora not wanted, hi!) Their HF equipment includes:
FT-1000MP+DVS-2 (7), FT-1000D (1), TS-940 (1) plus some spares.
Signals will be boosted by six linear amplifiers. Additional
accessories include Dunestar filters and Heil Sound Pro headsets.
HF antennas include: Inverted L's for 160 and 80 meters, 3
element beams for 40, 30 and 12 meters, 4 element beams for 20
and 17 meters, 5 element beam for 15 meters, 7 element beam for
10 meters and also an A3S, A3WS, R-7000 and wires antennas. They
will have seven towers (10...20 m high) with Yaesu rotators. They
will have 6 generators (2...7 kW). Their goal is to simultaneous
operate CW/SSB/RTTY on all bands with propagation. Plans call for
9 to 12 operating positions. Suggested frequencies are:

preparation was started in late 1998, now all licenses are
granted, callsigns assigned and equipment ready to be transported
to the island. THIS TEAM IS DETERMINED TO ESTABLISH MASSIVE
PRESENCE ON THE BANDS! BE PREPARED!
T30 & T33, WEST KIRIBATI AND BANABA ISLAND
(Update). Tom, DL2RUM, reports that the team has
received the following licences concerning their trip to Kiribati
this year. The following callsigns were assigned: T30Y, T30CW,
T33Y and T33CW. Activity will take place in October and November
(refer to OPDX.406). For further details, please visit the Web

Concerning the trip to Banaba, the Berlin DX Group, lead by Sigi,
DL7DF, reports, "Unfortunately and in an unexpected way, it
seems so, that we can`t find an agreement with the airlines to
carry our oversized baggage with us. The transportation is not
the problem, but the extra costs. So we are still looking for
support and donations. Who can help us? If you have the
possibility to support us, please feel free to contact us and/or

TI, COSTA RICA. The "DX News
Letter" reports that Kees, PA5CW/TI8, is now active through
June 22nd. Activity will be CW on 10/15/20/40 meters (possibly on
other bands. No QSNs have been reported yet. QSL via PA5CW, Kees
Wiegers, De Schans 96, NL-9351 AZ Leek, The Netherlands.
V6, MICRONESIA. "The 59(9)
DXReport" reports that Mike/G0VJK and Mike/ G4VGO are
planning an operation from Truk next year (February 14th-March
6th). They will concentrate their operation on 160-40 meters CW.
More information will be forthcoming.
XW, LAOS. By the time you read this,
operators 7L1MFS, JA2MNB and JR2KDN may have ended their
operation as XW8KPL/CSN. As this bulletin was being prepared,
they were very active on 15 meters SSB (around 21280 kHz). Their
announcement states that they will be active on CW/SSB/RTTY on
80-6 meters. QSNs reports show activity on 20/18/15/12 meters.

YB, INDONESIA. Sanji, HA6VK, a diplomat in
the Hungarian Embassy in Jakarta, has finally received an
official notice from the Indonesian authorities which approves
him to get an Indonesian amateur license. This approval is a part
of the agreement between Hungary and Indonesia allowing their
hams to operate in a reciprocal basis. Expect to hear Sanji on
the air using the callsign YB0AVK this month. Sanji has been
involved in this effort since October, 1998. More details will
follow soon.
YW7, VENEZUELA (Special Event/IOTA operation).
To celebrate the 1999 "Venezuelan Navy Day", the
Association of Radioamateurs of Venezuela (ARV) and the Grupo DX
Caracas have organized their annual DXpedition. This year they
will go to Coche Island (SA-012) and will be active as YW7C, from
July 29th through August 1st, 1999. Activity will be on SSB and
CW. QSL via W4SO.
YZ75, YUGOSLAVIA. Laci, YU7CB, reports that
YU club stations are allowed to use the special prefix YZ75
during the month of June to celebrate 75 years of amateur radio
in their country. He also mentions to look for his club station,
YU7AEW, to be active as YZ75AEW (QSL via YU7CB).
ZA, ALBANIA. Croatian operator Pero, 9A4SP,
is active every evening on the frequencies 7080-7085 kHz at
2100z. Pero is working in Tirana, capital of Albania, and is
using the callsign ZA/9A4SP. He will be in Albania until June
28th.
