3D2, FIJI. The "DX News Sheet"
reports that Paul, A35RK, will be active again from the Viti Levu
and Vanua Levu Groups (IOTA OC-016) as 3D2RK. His activity will
be in May for 3 to 4 weeks. Operations will be mostly CW. QSL via
W7TSQ.
3W6, VIETNAM. Jani, YB0US/NM6US, will be
operating from here as 3W6US from March 25-29th. This will
include the CQWW WPX SSB Contest. Jani will be using the special
callsign XV300S (that's Xray Victor Three Zero Zero Sugar) during
the CQ WPX SSB Contest (March 27-28th). QSL XV300S via JH1EVE,
Hiro H. Higashiyama, 1-12-5 Higashijujo, Kita, Tokyo, Japan.
Outside of the contest, Jani will use his own call, 3W6US. QSL
3W6US via N2OO: Bob Schenck, P.O. Box 345, Tuckerton, NJ
08087-0345 USA. QSL Manager Bob, N2OO, states, "For those of
you still waiting for a 3W6US card from his last operation there
in October 1998.... the cards should arrive from the printer in
the next week or two. When they arrive, I shall kick butt! Good
things always come to those who wait!"
8P, BARBADOS. Mario, K2ZD, will be operating
from here as 8P9JM from April 6-13th. Activity will be on 50 Mhz
and HF, with 100 watts. QSL via K2ZD.
8Q7, MALDIVE ISLANDS. "The 59(9)
DXReport" reports that DH5HV will be active from here May
17-31st, while on his honeymoon. Operations will be with 100
watts into a dipole.
9M2, WEST MALAYSIA. Johnny, G3LIV, will be
active from Pulau Penang as 9M2/G3LIV, May 4-24th. Activity will
be mainly on CW 20/17/15 meters. QSL via his home callsign.
C21SX/C21ZM WRAP UP. Nauru operations C21SX
(Roger/G3SXW) and C21ZM (Bob/G3ZEM) made over 20,000 CW contacts
in 132 DXCC countries between February 27th and March 7th on all
nine HF bands, including 38% on the WARC bands. More details and
break down on this operation will be provided to OPDX InterNet
Subscribers as an addtional bulletin.
CORRECTION. In OPDX.399, under "JW,
SVALBARD", Kjell's (SM7NAS) Web site was listed wrong. The

CY9, ST. PAUL ISLAND. Look for CY9CWI to be
activated by the West Island ARC of Montreal from July 21-28,
1999. Operation from this DXCC country will be on 160-6 meters as
conditions permit. Operation will be on or near the frequencies:
1830, 3005, 3745, 7005, 7065, 7230, 10105, 14010, 14265, 18125,
21010, 21305, 24935, 28010, 28395, 50010 and 50130 kHz. The team
will be an entry in the 1999 IOTA Contest (July 24-25th) and will
make special efforts to work Asians on 10-15 meters, Europeans on
80-160 meters, and Canadians everywhere! Operators will be
Helen/VE2YAK (YL Op), Fred/VE2SEI, Al/VO1NO/VE1, Reg/VE2AYU,
Bill/VE1MR, Dragan/VE2ZIV, Lowell/ VY2OX, and J-F (Jeff)/VE2TBH.

QSL via VE2CWI West Island ARC, Box 884, Dorval, Quebec, H9R 4Z6
CANADA.
E41, PALESTINE. "E41/OK1DTP is a legal
operation", states Zoli, HA1AG (aka E44/HA1AG). Zoli reports
that he has seen the printed license of David, E41/OK1DTP, in the
Ministry of Telecommunications in Gaza. By the way, a copy of the
license can be seen on the following Web site: http://www.okdxc.cz/e41/license.htm.
Zoli goes on and mentions that E44 is used for the operations
from the Gaza Strip such as E44/JA8RUZ, E44/HA1AG and E44/JA1UT.
All other regions will use different callsigns like E41/OK1DTP or
E46/OZ6ACD. It would seem David is the first to use the E41
prefix. ADDED NOTE: Zoli states that QSLs for E44/HA1AG will be
ready by Monday, March 15th. Meanwhile, E41/OK1DTP, continues to
be active and was heard on 12/10 meters SSB over the past
weekend. Check 24935 and 28400 kHz between 1100 and 1400z.
EA8, CANARY ISLANDS. Chris, 9A4KK, reports
that he will be active from here during the CQ WPX CW Conetst as
a Low Power entry. He is currently unsure what bands he will be
active on.
HK, COLOMBIA. Gerard, F2JD/G0SHN, continues
to be active as G0SHN/HK3 until the local administration gives
him a normal HK3 callsign. He will be here for about the next 2
years. He can sometimes be found on 20 meters. QSL via the French

HV, VATICAN. Luca, IW0DJB, HV5PUL's QSL
Manager, reports that the ham station from Pontifica University
Lateranense, Vatican City State, will be on air on April 22nd
during the "III Lateran Journey". The activity will be
on HF, RTTY, 6 and 2 meters. For other information on the HV5PUL

IOTA NEWS...
EU-011. Glyn, GW0ANA, reports to OPDX
that from May 3-8th, he will be on a small backpackers
trip to the Scilly Isles. He will be active on Tresco
Island using the callsign G0ANA/p. The trip is
exploratory for a future big scale expedition. He will
only take a TS-50S using 100 watts only, an Outbacker
vertical and wire antennas with him. Weight must be kept
to a minimum due to the helicopter flight. QSL via
GW0ANA, CBA or bureau.
EU-032. Didier F5BJW will be TM2A from
Aix Island from April 10-17th on SSB all bands.
EU-068. Operators F5TYY, F6IUI, F6BFH
and F9IE will be signing their callsigns/P from Ile de
Sein from May 13-15th.
EU-068. Operators F5PVF, F5TVG, F6JMT,
F8ATS, F4AJQ, F4TTR and F1UHM will activate Sein Island
from May 22-27th with the club callsign F6KOP/P. They
will be on SSB, CW and SSTV with operations on 80m to
23cm.
EU-074. Jean Marc, F5SGI, will be
signing F5SGI/P from Brehat Island from April 25-30th. He
will be operating mostly on CW with some SSB activity on
14260 kHz.
EU-081. The radio club "F6KFV"
will be using TM2F from St. Marcouf Island for the IOTA
contest (at the end of July).
OC-127. By the time you read this,
Bernard, DL2GAC, should be active as H44MS from Rennel
Island. He will be active until March 22nd. Activity will
be on 40/20/17/12/10 meters. QSL via his home callsign.
JT, MONGOLIA. Operators Antonio/I1ZB,
Andrea/IZ0CRN, Gaetano/IT9GAI and Nicola/I0SNY will be active
April 6-15th, as JT1Y from the JT1KAA club station in Ulan-Bator.
QSL via I0SNY. Suggested frequencies are:
CW - 1825, 3505, 7005, 10105, 14015, 18075, 21015, 24895, 28015
and 50110 kHz.
SSB - 1840, 3780, 7045, 14185, 18145, 21285, 24985, 28485 and
50110 kHz.
N7GSU/BCN (Signal reports PLEASE). Robin,
N7GSU, reports that the N7GSU Beacon is now on the air at 28.2825
MHz. It transmits continous with 500mw to a 1/2 W Vertical
antenna from grid CN85if. Please send signal reports via snail

P3, CYPRUS. Harry, UN7FZ/UP6F, informs OPDX
that the "Team of P3A" will take part in CQ WW WPX SSB
as a Multi/Multi category. QSL via W3HNK. Operators will be
active before and after the contest using their callsigns/5B4.

callsigns.
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
HC8L QSL ROUTE. Mike, K4YDK, worked Dave
(W6NL), HC8L, and was able to get the address for the HC8
bureau. It is: Guayaquil Radio Club, Box 5757, Guayaquil,
Ecuador.
5W0GD/A35XU QSLS. PA3AXU has informed
OPDX that there is no back log for direct QSLs on these
cards. Also, he has answered the first bunch of QSL
(approx. 200 cards) received through the bureau. If you
still need a QSL, send them direct to: G.A.M.C. Dijkers,

Netherlands.
Eduardo, OA4SS, states he has a
stateside QSL Manager. QSL to his manager KB6J (SASE or
IRC's).
New QSL information for HC6CR/HD6CR and
HC6FG/HD6FG. QSL Manager Rick, NE8Z/HC1MD,
reports that as of March 9, 1999, he will no longer be
the QSL Manager for HC6CR, HD6CR, HC6FG and HD6FG. All
past, present and future QSOs can be confirmed via their
direct addresses: HC6CR/HD6CR HC6FG/HD6FG Roberto Camacho
Maricela de Camacho Casilla 614 Casilla 614 Ambato,
Ecuador Ambato, Ecuador. He states mail theft in Ecuador
has made the passing of logs impossible, and they are not
able to send him the logs via E-mail. The entire country
is going through a severe financial crisis with
devaluation of their local currency. However, Rick will
continue to act as QSL Manager for Alfredo/HC1HC. Alfredo
does computer logging and is able to communicate with him
daily via E-mail with logs and/ or other information.
Mike, Z31FK, reports some bulletins and
manager-lists include the QSL information Z31FK via
I1YRL. Mike, Z31FK, states this is definitely wrong!!!!!
I1YRL has never been his QSL Manager! The correct route
is the direct address which is the only correct route for
Z31FK (or via bureau) as follows: Dimitar Jordanov
("Mike"), P.O.Box 45, 92300 Kocani, Rep.

VK9XX QSL CARDS. Charlie, W0YG, reports
that all USA and Canada QSL cards received to date have
been answered UNLESS both VK9XX and VK9YY cards were
enclosed within the same envelope. This will take a
considerably longer time to sort out. He also mentions
that if a request for QSL cards was received without a
return envelope, these cards will be sent through the
bureau. Charlie estimates the first bureau shipment to be
approximately a year away due to the workload of
servicing some 10 DX operations as QSL manager. Direct
requests are encouraged to eliminate delays. He will
address JA and EU cards next for their VK9XX operation.
SPECIAL EVENT. A special event station will
be on the air to celebrate Marconi`s first transmission
"Across the English Channel" from Dover to France. This
first "DX" transmission was done on the 27th of March,
1899. Their re-enactment will take place from his original QTH
South Foreland Lighthouse, Dover. The operation will be active
from the March 25-29th, using the callsign GB100SFL (if confirmed
by authorities, if not then GX4BRS). QSL to GW0ANA, CBA or the
bureau.
SPECIAL EVENT. Look for special event station
UE9WZZ to be active to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the
Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia). Look for activity on all

T5, SOMALIA. A few sources report that
Julian, T5EC, a member of a German medical relief team in Badade,
was heard on 12 meters SSB on March 7th. No other information or
QSNs were reported since then. His length of stay is not known.

TX8, NEW CALEDONIA. Operator FK8FI, FK8VHN,
FK8HC and FK8GM will be active in the CQ WPX Contest in 2 weeks
as TX8DX as a Multi/Multi entry. The QSL Mmanager is VK4FW: Bill

VP5, TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS. Matt/IK2SGC
and Conrad/IK2SFZ will be active from March 24th to April 5th
from Whitby, North Caicos as VP5/IK2SGC and VP5/IK2SFZ. They will
be on the air for the CQ WPX SSB Contest as Multi/ Single as VP5N
or VP5R. During the non-contest operation, they will be
concentrating on the lower bands and WARC bands. The equipment
will be the following: Yaesu FT1000MP, Kenwood TS-950, Kenwood
TS930, Kenwood TS-830, Alpha 87A, Alpha 78, Heath SB220, 10
element 10/15/20 + WARC, Cushcraft 2 element 40 Meter, M2 80M
rotatable dipole and 160m slopers. QSL via IK2SAI. E-mail QSL

XX9, MACAO. Ed, K8EP, will be travelling to
XX9-land over the period April 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12th. He will
obtaining his license when he arrives there (Callsign to be
assigned later). His operations will be on 40-10 meters SSB and
CW. QSL via K8EP.
YB0, INDONESIA. Wisnu, YB0AZ, reports that he
tries to be on 14195 kHz (+/- QRM) each day. He is currently
looking for HI and MS to complete his WAS on 20. QSL via
Bob/W7TSQ his QSL manager and THE ONLY route for a card. Bureau
cards are OK.
ZC4, UNITED KINGDOM SOVEREIGN BASES ON CYPRUS.
The "DX News Sheet" reports that George, 5B4AGC, may be
active as ZC4RAF, March 26th. Activity will be on CW, possibly
staying overnight for LF bands. QSL via 5B4YX.
ZK2 NIUE. Look for Uwe/DL2YAK and Hape/DL1EMH
to be active from here March 22nd through April 11th as ZK2GEO.
Activity will be on all bands CW/SSB/RTTY and also an entry in
the CQ WPX SSB Contest. QSL via DL1EMH.
ZV0, ST. PETER & ST. PAUL ARCHIPELAGO (Update).
By the time you read this, the ZV0SB and ZV0SW operation should
have started (scheduled to begin on March 15th or 16th). It was
announced this past week the team will, unfortunately, not work
RTTY this trip. They hope to do it next DXpedition. Also
announced, Ari, PT2BW, who was to be their pilot station and land
coordinator, had to drop out do to health reasons. Morgado,
PT2CSM, will replace him along with the help of PS7AB/Ronny,
PT2/PY1HE/ Dias and PT2TF/Tereza. Operations will last until
March 21st or 22nd.
