QSL INFO AND NEWS......
Mario, IK6GPZ, sysop of IK6LOH PacketCluster node,
reports that Nespeca, IK6WQU, has obtained the special
contest callsign "II6M" and and all QSLs should
go to IK6WQU.
VK8AN/6 and VK8AN QSLs. Dan, VK8AN, states QSLs for
either VK8AN or VK8AN/6 (Troughton Is, OC-154) may have
mistakenly QSLed via the bureau. If so, it is unlikely
that their card will reach either Dan or his QSL manager
Alan, VK4AAR. Unfortunately, those who have not received
a return QSL may have to try again. Please QSL only
direct with return postage to VK4AAR (1995 or later
callbook) and a card will be returned to the sender
within days. Dan is confirming QSOs with Alan via E-mail,
so there is little delay in his responding.
RK0FWL/p was active during the IOTA Contest and was the
first station active from Moneron Island. QSL via CBA or
Bureau. A QSO log search is available at: http://www.qsl.net/ra0ff/RK0/moneron.htm
RA0FF as a log search collection (nearly 200 logs) at: http://www.qsl.net/ra0ff/
CHECK YOUR IRCs! Buzz, N5FTR, would like to remind
everyone to watch out for improperly stamped IRCs. There
are many of these IRCs out there which are actually
useless. Buzz has almost received 100 bad IRCs improperly
stamped for requests for the H75A QSL cards. Buzz states
that this is nearly $60 he would have to pay for return
postage. He also feels that he can not sell these IRCs on
the "second-market" because they are of no
value. Buzz has decided that any requests that he
receives with improperly stamped IRCs will be returned
via the bureau. Most of the valueless IRCs that are
received are stamped only in the first box on the left.
Many are not stamped at all.
H75A QSLS have been received from the printers and QSL
requests should be received shortly. Buzz states,
"Everyone's patience is appreciated and we think the
wait for the fold-over card will make it
worthwhile." Buzz, N5FTR, reports that he is the QSL
Manager for the following stations that are currently
active: P29BW (rare IOTA OC-008), TU5GD, ZD7JP, OA4DHW,
5T5TY, and A41KJ. He also has the logs for the following
stations (Some are QRT; others waiting for propagation):
H75A, J87CQ, KG4CM, KG4DD, V31BR, V31ML, P29BT, 9M8BT,
9M8FH, 9M8YL, Z21BA, C91J, C9RJJ, and PJ0/KB5DZP.
Bogdan, SP5CPR (5N3CPR), reports that he is now temporary
QRTed but is in Nigeria. He is currently working hard on
QSLs and states cards will be sent out upon his return
home. Cards will be answered direct and via the bureau.
Ciprian, YO3FWC, informs OPDX that the Romania (YO) Call
Book is now on-line. He states that you will be able to
find addresses or E-mail addresses of many hams in
Romania. Check out the Web page: http://www.qsl.net/yo3kaa/

VP8, FALKLAND ISLANDS. Jan,
K4QD, will operate as VP8CRB from the Falkland Islands for three
weeks from December 26, 1998, to January 16, 1999. Jan will be
assisted in the Falklands by Bob, VP8BFH, and Tim, VP8CKN.
Operations will be on all bands and modes. Emphasis will be on
geographical areas, bands, and modes that are most needed by
DXers. A special callsign, VP8TTY, will be used during RTTY
operations including the January ARRL RTTY Roundup. Jan states
that plans for his trip are firm, tickets are in hand, most
equipment is already in place or in hand, operating arrangements
are made and the VP8CRB license has been renewed. Jan, K4QD, and
Bob, VP8BFH, were members of the 1995 South Georgia Island VP8SGP
DXpedition (along with team leader Al Hernandez K3VN, and Vince
Thompson, K5VT). This Falklands DXpedition is a four year reunion
for Jan and Bob, and it is being personally funded. Any donations
for cost, shipping of antennas and equipment, which will be left
in Falklands, and QSL cards are welcome. QSL route, donations and
questions are via Jan Heise, K4QD, 614 Dundee Circle, West
Melbourne, Florida 32904, USA. Phone: 407-956-2482. Web site and

XX9, MACAO. Jon/WB8YJF and
Leo/K8PYD will be operating from here for the CQWW RTTY Contest.
They are hopeful that they will operate with their previous
callsign XX9YD. Activity on CW and perhaps SSB will take place
prior to contest. Leo reports that the airline tickets are
purchased and accomodations being sought at this time. QSLs will
go via K8PYD. There will be more information reported as it
becomes available.
