3A, MONACO. During the period
April 25-27th, look for Tony, IK1QBT (CW only), and Mauro, IK1CJO
(RTTY only), to be active from here signing as 3A/homecalls. They
will be using a Icom 735 and Kenwood TS850, 100 watt (maximum
legal power in 3A) to a vertical antenna multiband homemade and
inverted "V" dipoles. The CW activity will be on all
bands (emphasis on WARC band). Activity for RTTY will be on
21082, 14082 and 7037 kHz. The QSL via the bureau or direct to
the respectives home call's: IK1QBT - Tony Gallo, Via Capo
S.Spirito 1/16, 17052 Borghetto Santo Spirito (SV), Italy and
IK1CJO - Mauro Ferrua, Casella Postale 41, 17031 Albenga (SV),

3Y, BOUVET ISLAND (Operation
Postponed). In a press release from the South Sandwich Island DX
Group (SSIDXG) and Operations Director Tony DePrato, WA4JQS, has
officially postponed the planned operation again to the 1998-1999
Austral Summer. The planned operation was to take place in
December of this year. The press release stated problems
developed when the Norwegian Government, through the Nordst
Polarinstitute, notified the SSIDXG group of plans for a major
environmental project on Bouvet Island. Because of the
environmental concerns and planned activities, the SSIDXG group
decided to postpone.
4S7, SRI LANKA. "The 59(9)
DXReport" reports that Denver, 4S7DA, is active on 20 meter
SSB between 0000 and 0200z. Sometimes 4S7RO is on the air with
him. QSL via W3HNK.
8P9, BARBADOS. Baerbel, DL7UTO,
and Bernd, DJ1TO, will once again be on vacation and active from
here as 8P9IU and 8P9IR. Activity will take place from April 22nd
to May 5th, mostly on CW and on all bands from 80-10 meters. QSL
via home calls.
9M6, EAST MALAYSIA. Look for
Phil, VR2CT, to be active as 9M6CT from Kota Kinabalu until May
7th. Activity will be SSB only with operations on 10, 12, 15 and
17 meters (between 0030-0300z) and 20 meters (between 1400-
1700z. QSL via HS0/G4JMB.
9M8, EAST MALAYSIA (Upate).
Peter, PB0ALB (ex-PE1KDV, ex 9M8PFB, KC4VDE), has provided OPDX
with the following updated details. Peter will sign 9M8CC from
Serian which is located 50 Miles from Kuching, Capital of
Sarawak. He will operate SSB, with a TS-440 and a 2 elements
Fritzel Yagi, FD 4 long wire for local QSOs on low bands, and
possibly he will be making a GP for 40/80 meters for DX. He will
use a MFJ 259 to experiment with antennas. Peter states to look
for him around 1200z most evenings on 14250 kHz or somewhere
around this frequency. His antennas will be pointed at Europe as
well as North America. A bit earlier, at 1100z, if he has time,
he will be active on 15 meters to Europe. If he is on before
0900z, he will try to be active on 15 Meters to the West. He will
be there until May 22nd. QSL via homecall.
EG, SPAIN. Next May 17th, many
stations will be on air with the special prefix EG and a suffix
celebrating the Telecomunications International Day. Look for
EG5TID to be active along with stations using the EG prefix and
the following suffixes: UIT, IUT and ITD. All the QSL cards go
via the bureau.
EJ7, GREAT SALTEE ISLAND (IRELAND).
The WestNet DX Group will operate this summer from this Irish
island which is referred to as EU-103 on the IOTA list. They will
be joined on the trip by their friends from Switzerland, the
Saltee Dog DX Group. The operation will take place from Thursday,
June 25th, until Monday, June 29th. The callsign for this
operation will be EJ7NET. Their operation will be on all bands
from 160 to 2 meters. The team will be active on SSB, CW, and
RTTY. The QSL route for this operation will be via EI2GX. ALL
stations worked will be QSLed via the bureau.
FG, GUADELOUPE. The
"LNDX" reports that F2HE is now active from FG-land
until June. No other details were provided.
FO0, AUSTRAL ISLAND AND OTHER
FRENCH POLYNESIA ISLANDS. By the time you read this, Kan, JA1BK,
will have or probably will be finishing up a two day operation
from Marquesas, French Polynesia as FO0MIZ. He plans to activate
Austral Island next for four days. After that, he plans to move
on to Papeete, Moorea and possibly other French Polynesia
Islands. All operations are under the callsign FO0MIZ. In Kan's
press release, there were no specific frequencies mentioned, but
activity by Kan over the past weekend showed him to be on
12/20/40/80 meters. A QSL manager has not been assigned yet. For
more details, such as a map showing the location of the possible
two new entities and Kan's activity schedule, please refer to the

bulletin (OPDX.351), we mentioned that Paul, F6EXV, filed a
petition for both Marquesas and Austral to become possible new
entities for DXCC. OPDX has learned over the past weekend, that
during a Membership Service Committee (held March 28th, in
Dallas, Texas), the DXAC was assigned to add new DXCC Entity
petitions for Austral Island, Marquesas Island and Santa Cruz
Islands to their agenda. DXAC discussions on the petitions have
already began.
FO0, AUSTRAL AND MARQUESAS ISLANDS
(More activity!). By the time you read this Bob, W6RJ, and Rob,
W6KR, will be active as FO0FI from the Austral Island group on
the island of Rurutu. The operation will continue until the
morning of the April 20th. Their activity will be on all bands,
CW and SSB. Their equipment is a 30 ft. high FORCE 12 C3S and a
Titinex V80 vertical for 160 through 40 meters. Power is 500W
output. Beginning on April 21st through April 28th, a second
operation is planned from the Marquesas Island group on Nukuhiva
Island with the callsign FO0FR. For both operations, check the
normal DX frequencies. QSL via K6SLO.
HR, HONDURAS. Gerard,
F2JD/HP1XBI, currently active from Panama, will be moving to
HR5-land around the middle of April for one month.
NEW DXCC MANAGER. Newly
appointed Membership Services Manager Bill Kennamer, K5FUV,
announced during a MSC meeting on March 28th, that Bill Moore,
NC1L, will be promoted to DXCC Manager effective April 20th.
OOOPPPSS DEPARTMENT. In OPDX.351
under "RESULTS of the DX Magaine's Most Wanted
Countries" the "100" and the "e" were

Since then, Cesar, PY2YP, has reported to OPDX that the CWSP (Sao
Paulo CW Group) Web site is entirely dedicated to the CW mode.

ZL9 Campbell Island Press Release
QSL INFO AND NEWS.....
Dave, ZS6RVG, reports to OPDX that all direct QSL cards
received for his January, 1998, 7P8/ZS6RVG operation have
been answered as of April 1st. The cards for ALL other
QSOs have been sent to the ZS Bureau as of April 6th.
Dave says, "Thanks to everybody who made contact
with us at 7P8, we will try again early next year."
YJ8AA QSL UPDATE. Alan, VK4AAR, reports he is still
holding a number of requests for YJ8AA QSL cards. If you
have sent mail to him since January, 1998, and you are
still waiting, PLEASE be patient. Alan probably has your
request, and he will attend to it as soon as he receives
the log reports from Frank (YJ8AA). All requests received
prior to the 1st of January have been confirmed. Frank
has not been on air since a few days prior to the civil
unrest on Vanuatu (now over) and a report Alan just
received says his radio is now out of action. Alan
states, "Radio is my only means of getting log
details. The mail service there is UNACCEPTABLE. Frank

SPECIAL EVENT. Look for special
event "Marconi Day" station W2RC/IMD to be active April
25th, from 0000-2400z. The Radio Central ARC will operate 3 high
profile HF stations on 160-10 meters in honor of Marconi's
Birthday. Operations will take place from the orginal Marconi
Radio "Shack" site at Rocky Point, Long Island, New
York, USA. This marks the 11th year of celebration for the
International Marconi Day (Sponsered by Cornish ARC of UK). Look
for more special event stations to participate. QSL W2RC/IMD via
N2IME with SASE or 1 IRC, or Via N2IME via bureau.
SPECIAL EVENT. On May 5th,
"Europe Day", a station from the European Council will
be active as TP4CE. Activity will be on 18, 24 and 28 MHz from
0600 to 2000z on CW/SSB.
SPECIAL EVENT. Amateur
astronomers/hams representing the Southwestern Region of the
Astronomical League will be operating Special Event Station W5TSP
at the 20th annual Texas Star Party. The operation will commence
April 20 thru April 25. The frequencies are (+/- QRM) 28365,
21365, 14265 and 7265 kHz. Pactor on 7073 and 14073. SSTV/CW

SV, GREECE (Update). Manos G.
Darkadakis, SV1IW, General Secretary of the Radio Amateur
Association of Greece, informs OPDX that Berkin/TA3J and
Nilay/TA3YJ were not issued a license to operate from Greece.
Manos states, "Since Greece and Turkey have no reciprocal
licensing between them, any activities from TA operators in
Greece or SV operators in Turkey is illegal. The above mentioned
TA operators have been clearly informed about this and therefore
no licence has been issued by Greek authorities. Also No CEPT
rules can be applied to the situation."
THE SPACE "A" DXPEDITION GROUP.
This group has been making plans to put on two DXpeditions. Bill,
W4WX, reports their trip to Iceland (TF) is a go and the
operation is scheduled for June/July. Operators going are: Team
Leader Vance/N5VL, Tom/K7ZZ, Rick/W8PT and Bill/W4WX (back-up
Bruce WD4NGB). Vance has reportedly applied for a license and the
group is looking at a couple of places to operate from. The group
is also looking at a possible trip/operation from Diego Garcia
(VQ9), but this is still in the planning stage. They are planning
for a November, 1998, operation. Members signed up for the
operation are: Team Leader Bill/W4WX, Bruce/WD4NGB, Vance/N5VL
and Joe/KO4RR. For more details on this group, please refer to

TK, CORSICA. Look for
Norbert/F6AXX, Maurive/F6IIE, Nernard/F5HEW and Guy/F5MNW to be
active as TK0UFT or TK5UFT, from now until April 18th. Activity
will ONLY be on CW. QSL via F6AXX.
VP8 ISLANDS MAY BE ACTIVATED.
Carl, G4VFU, is currently MM heading south and was on 80 meters
off the coast of Uruguay last week stating he will be heading to
the VP8 which includes the Falklands Islands, South Shetland
Island and South Sandwich Islands. There were no other details
given, other than he will be in the area for two weeks.
YJ, VANUATU. The "DX News
Sheet" reports that Dick, DJ2EH, will be active until April
17th, possibly as YJ0ADJ (callsign not known). Activity will be
on CW/SSB and RTTY with operations on 160-10 meters. QSL via home
call.
ZD9, TRISTAN DA CUNHA. Ian,
ZD9IL, has been heard active on 10 meters (around 28492 kHz)
between 1200 and 1400z. QSL via ZS5BBO. Also, Andy, ZD9BV, has
been active on 10 meters (check around 28487 kHz). QSL via W4FRU.
ZL9CI, CAMPBELL ISLAND (Update).
From the latest press release, the DXpedition team is set to
depart from New Zealand on January 5, 1999, and arrive on
Campbell Island the 9th. The team will remain active until the
25th of January. They hoped that this timing will allow all the
adequate time make a QSO with ZL9CI on any bands or modes (CW,
SSB or RTTY) that a DXer can wish. This operation will have 11
experienced operators. OPDX InterNet Subscribers will receive the
complete up-to- date press release as an additional bulletin.
