3B8 & 3B9, MAURITIUS AND RODRIGUEZ
ISLAND Look for Toshi, JA1ELY, to be active from 3B8
Mauritius before he goes to 3B9 Rodriguez. He hopes to be active
from 3B9 by September 23th. He will be joined by Roddy, 3B8DL,
and the two operators will be active as 3B8DL/3B9. Activity will
be on SSB, CW and RTTY with operations on 80-10 meters. Activity
will last until the morning of September 28th. QSL via JA1ELY.
3C0, ANNOBON ISLAND (DXpedition update) Angel,
EA1QF, 3C0DX Annobon DXpeition 1997 Coordinator, reports his team
has decided to suspend the expedition to Annobon (which was to
take place during October). The complete press release will be
provided to all OPDX InterNet Subscribers as an additional
bulletin.
3D2, ROTUMA ISLAND Well known
DXer Ron, ZL1AMO, who is currently active from Fiji as 3D2RW, was
heard saying he was once again trying to make plans and
arrangements to go to Rotuma.
9A97WPC (SPECIAL EVENT STATION)
The station will be active during the 6th World Puzzle
Championship (with countries-participants from all over the
world) being held in Koprivnica, Croatia, from September 23-28th.
Amateur Radio Club of Koprivnica and its members will activate
the special event station 9A97WPC on all HF bands, including WARC
bands on CW and SSB. A special full color QSL cards will be
available to all "Log-in QSOs". QSL to the bureau or
direct (Callbook adress) to QSL Manager 9A3KQ.
9G, GHANA. A group of British
operators will be active during the 1997 CQWW CW Contest from
Accra. They will be active as 9G5VJ as a Multi Op/ Single
Transmitter category. They plan to be active on all bands 160-10
meters. The team of operators will be: Steve/G3VMW, Ken/G4RWD and
Andy/G4ZVJ. Outside the contest, between November 21st and
December 2nd, the operators will sign with their own 9G
callsigns, concentrating on CW on the WARC and low bands. Please
QSL via home calls: 9G5VJ via G4ZVJ, 9G5SW via G3VMW and 9G5WD

9M8, EAST MALAYSIA. JH3GAH,
JR3WXA and JA2SWJ will be active from Miri, Sarawak, October
23-26th. They will sign 9M8TG for CW/RTTY and 9M8YY for SSB. The
trio hopes to give a new one for low banders and WARC chasers.
C5, THE GAMBIA. Mako, JA1OEM,
will be active from here between September 25th and October 9th,
as C56/JA1OEM. He will be in the city of Banjul. By the way, Mako
is 73 years old and you may remember working him last year from
PZ and FY. Activity will be on SSB/CW with operations on 40-10
meters. He does prefer CW but operates at a very slow speed. QSL
to his home callsign.
FR, REUNION. Jan, N3NW, will be
here for the CQWW RTTY Contest (September 27-28th). His callsign
will be FR/N3NW. He plans to enter as a 15 meters single band
entry. QSL via N3NW. All contacts will receive a card via the
bureau.
FP, MIQUELON. KG8CO, N8CC, K8AEM
and W8MC have announced that they will be operating from here
October 23-28th. They will be an entry in the 1997 CQ WW Phone
Contest running Multi/Multi (callsign or callsigns were not
provided, we will keep you updated). QSL via K8AQM.
HC8, GALAPAGOS ISLAND. Operators
N5KO, VE3EJ, W6NL, K6BL and HC1OT have announced that they will
be active as HC8N during the CQ World Wide SSB Contest as a
Multi/Single entry. QSL via AA5BT.
HR, HONDURAS. Sigi, DL7DF, and
his crew (Tom/DJ6TF, Tom/DL2RUM, Tom/DL7BO, Frank/DL7UFR and 3
YL's) will start Sigi 10th DXpedtion from October 17-29th. They
plan to operate especially on the low bands and on CW, but SSB
and RTTY are also possible. They will also be in the CQWW DX SSB
Contest. They will be using 3 tranceivers with amplifiers with
the following antennas: 3 element beam for 20, 15, 10m, 6 element
beam for 20, 15, 10m, 3 element beam for 17 and 12m, GP for 30,
40, 80 and 160m and beverages to Europe and Japan. There was NO
CALLSIGN provided, but QSLs will be via DL7DF.
IOTA NEWS...
Ulli, DL2HEB, will be on the air from Laes Island
(EU-088) from the September 27th to October 5th. Activity
will be mainly in CW and QRP using the call OZ/DL2HEB/p.
Look for him on the following frequencies: 14040, 14060
and 14260 kHz. He will also try to use the digital modes
(RTTY, Amtor, Pactor I and II). QSL to his homecall
DL2HEB directly, or via the buro.
Giancarlo, T77WI, will operate from IOTA OC-046, Moorea
Island, from September 29th to October 10th. Activity
will be mainly SSB, with a possibility of some CW. QSL
via I0LTX via CBA (for this operation ONLY). Giancarlo is
not sure the assigned call-sign (it might be /FO8 or a
FO8?? temporary call).
Ryozo, JH3JYS, will stay on Yonaguni Island (AS-024) in
Okinawa for two months beginning October 1st. He wants to
provide this rare IOTA number to as many IOTA chasers as

JG8NQJ/JD1. QRT'ED BY MOTHER
NATURE Take, JG8NQJ/JD1, in Minami Torishima (Marcus), has
reportedly been hit by typhoon #20, which hit the island, and his
shack was swallowed up by mountainous sea waves (10 meters high).

KH7K, KURE ISLAND (Update).
Frank, AH0W/OH2LVG, member/teammate of the Midway-Kure DX
Foundation, sent out a final press release on the upcoming
DXpedition stating a special callsign has been issued for use by
this DXpedition: K7K (Kilo Seven Kilo). OPDX InterNet Subscribers
will receive the complete press release as an additional
bulletin.
KP2 & WP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLAND.
Dave, AG8L, reports he will be active from the Windwood contest
station for a week in October, and a week in November (no
specific dates mentioned, probably around the CQWW contests). He
will be using two callsigns: KP2/AG8L outside of contests, and
WP2Z for contests. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, including
WARC bands. Dave states he now has the NOVA satellite tracking
software, so he will make an effort to get on RS-12 as time
permits. The QSL routes are as follows:

QSL WP2Z via KU9C (This is the new standard route for WP2Z)

OKDXA 1997 DX BANQUET. The
Oklahoma DX Association (OKDXA) proudly announces the 1997 OKDXA
DX Banquet featuring presentations by OKDXA member and
DXpeditioner Frank Smith, AH0W, and Bill Kennamer, K5FUV, Manager
of the ARRL's DXCC Program. It will take place November 8th. The
banquet facility will be provided by the Broken Arrow Church of
Christ, located at 505 E. Kenosha in Broken Arrow, OK. SPECIAL

QSL INFO AND NEWS...
The 5A28 Log Search is now active on the 5A28 Austrian
DXpedition web page located at: http://www.point.at/point/5a28.htm
Jean, F6AJA, reports that he has the HP1XBI logs up to
August 25th and all direct request are on the way.

N7QXQ/HR6 CARDS. Bob, W7TSQ, reports that he has been
receiving several cards for Gary without an SASE or
postage. All direct requests will be answered, BUT the
ones without SASE or postage will be sent by the bureau!!
Frank, ZP5FGS, has asked OPDX to report to its readers
that K7OXB is not his QSL Manager and has never been. The
wrong route was released a couple of years ago, then
published in the German "QSL-Routes", but was
later corrected there. Frank does not have a QSL Manager
and all QSL cards are answered via the bureau or direct
to the callbook address: Francisco Schubeius, P.O.Box
1059, Asuncion, PARAGUAY. To obtain a skeds with Frank or
QSL help with ZP-stations, send inquires via E-mail at: fgs@infonet.com.py
VK9WM QSLS. It was reported that the group on Willis
Island has asked that everyone QSL to: ODXG Willis
Effort, P.O. Box 929, Gympie, QLD 4570, Australia
(instead of VK4FW). Check for updates and details on
their website.
SO1/SO5, WOLIN ISLAND (Update).
NODXA member, Holger, DL7IO, provided OPDX with another update to
their upcoming activity from this Polish island (Please refer to
OPDX.322 and OPDX.321). Holger states that they have received a
second callsign, SO1HH. So the German team will now use SO5OE/1
on SSB and SO1HH/EU132 on CW. They have also received permission
to use the hotel roof (5 floors up) for their antennas. They will
try to have two stations on the air all the time using FT-990's
(with a little help) and R7, HF6V, dipoles for HF. Also, they
will have 2m/70cm all mode equipment there which should be of
some interest for Europe. Remember, activity will be October
2-5th. QSL route is DL7VRO. Via the bureau is "OK". It
is also "OK" to send QSL request via E-mail to "DL7VRO@aol.com" and they
will send cards via bureau.
TI, COSTA RICA. "The 59(9)
DXReport" states K6CT and K9VV will be active as a
Multi-Single entry in the CQ WW CW Contest as TI5KD.
TM7, FRANCE (Special Event). The
special call sign TM7RL will be used from October 3-5th. The
activity will be mostly in CW on 80-10 meters. QSL via F5LVL.
V8, BRUNEI. It has been
announced that JO1RUR will once again be active from here for the
CQWW DX Phone Contest. He will sign as V8EA and will operate as a
Single OP/All Band entry. He placed 8th in the world last year as
V85HG and hopes to do better in the ranking this year. He plans
to set up better antennas for 160 and 80 meters. QSL to JH7FQK.
VK9L, LORD HOWE ISLAND. It has
been announced that Nick, VK9LX, will be active from November
23rd to Decemeber 1st. Activity will include participation in the
CQWW CW Contest. Operations will be 160-10 meters. QSL VK9LX: c/o

VS6, HONG KONG. F5PRH is
reportedly in Hong Kong for at least the next 6 months and hopes
to obtain a licence.
ZK1, PENRHYN ISLAND (North Cook).
Just a little reminder! The ZK1XXP operation is now active and
will be on the air until September 27th. Refer to OPDX.321 for
details.
