CORRECTIONS...
Patrice, F5ATD, informed OPDX that the correct address
for TM0RSE is: P.O. Box 20, F-14480 Creully, FRANCE (not
P.O. Box 22 as reported in last week's bulletin).
Last week we reported under "BV, TAIWAN" that
SM3EVR would be active from here, this is wrong (there
was a mix up in the callsign) the correct operator is
SM3SGP, and he will be active until October as
SM3SGP/BV2. QSL via SM3EVR.
CY0, SABLE ISLAND. Wayne,
VE1CBK, will be travelling to Sable Island for work reasons on
June 7 and will be there until around June 23rd. He expects to
get on the air about June 12 or 13th and will be operating during
his off hours. He will be on all bands HF (except 160m). He will
also be active on 2 and 6 meters (50.132 and 144.200 MHz). The
callsign will be CY0SAB. QSL to VE1CBK.
FK, NEW CALEDONIA. Didier,
F5PXQ, is active as FK/F5PXQ. He will be here for the next three
to four years. His activity will include RTTY. He has been heard
on 20 meters SSB (above 14250 kHz) between 0330 and 0545z. QSL to
his CBA.
FR/E, EUROPA. FR5KH, who was
recently active from Juan de Nova with FR5FT, states he will be
active as FR5KH/E from Europa Island the next time he visits the
islands.
GU, GUERNSEY. A group of BARTG
(British Amateur Radio Teledata Group) members will take part in
the CQWW RTTY Contest, September 27-28th, as a Multi/Op team on
all bands from the club radio station using the club call GU3HFN.
HP, PANAMA (HR, HONDURAS, possible).
Bill, WT4K, will be active as HP3/WT4K, June 23-27th. He will be
active on SSB and RTTY. QSL to home call with SASE. If travel
arrangements can be made, he will also go to Honduras as HR6/WT4K
June 30th through July 4th.
HS, THAILAND. Chai, HS1NGR, was
active for a couple of days on 14195 or 14180 kHz between 1300
and 1600z.
HZ, SAUDIA ARABIA. Sam, HZ1CCA,
in Riyadh, has been quite active on 40, 18 and 15 meters SSB.
Activity times vary throughout the day, but watch around 7060,
21235 and 18135 kHz. Meanwhile, HZ1AB was very active this past
weekend on 18160 kHz between 1300 and 1500z. QSL via K8PYD.
KP2, U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS.
"The 59(9) DXReport" states N2OO, KF2BQ and N2LD will
sign homecall/KP2 July 24-31st. Their stay here will include the
IOTA Contest and activity on 160-10 meters CW and SSB. QSL via
their respective homecall.
NEW SIX METERS BEACON. A new
beacon is now active on 50.080 MHz sending the following message
every 3 seconds: VVV BEACON DE PP1CZ PP1CZ GG99UQ GG99UQ 3 WATTS
5 ELEM YAGI VVV. The current antenna is a 5 elements Yagi (for a
short time until a vertical can be fixed by July). Send reports
to: PP1CZ, P.O.Box 010.629 - Vitoria - E.S. Brazil (or Internet

"POLAR-97" DXPEDITION!
Nick/RA1QQ, RW1ZZ and RA1ZZ reported that they are planning a
major DXpedition during the second part of June to the islands of
Barentsevo Sea. After the 15th of June, they want to visit the
following islands: Kildin Island (EU-82), Bolshoi Olenij Island
(EU-61), Harlov Island (EU-161), Novaya Zemlya Island (EU-35) and
possibly Bolshoi Ainov Island (a new one for IOTA, EU-???). The
team will be using special callsigns as homecall/1 (ex. RA1QQ/1,
RW1ZZ/1, RA1ZZ/1). Also, they will be using the team callsigns:
UE1QQQ/1 and UE1ZNF. Additional information about this DXpedition
can be obtained from RA1QQ or RW1ZZ on the air or via E-mail at: Albert_Marcovchuk@p18.f350.n50.z2.fidonet.org
QSL INFO AND NEWS...
Kirk, K4RO, reports he has been receiving cards for
contacts made with UA8TAA in June, 1992 (mainly from JA).
He states that he is not the QSL manager for UA8TAA or
anyone else for that matter. Once again, K4RO is *NOT*
the QSL manager for UA8TAA.
Den, A35DB, was heard on the air saying to QSL to W7TSQ.
Not W7SNH as reported in last week's bulletin.
HS50A QSLS. For the IOTA DXpedition to Koh Chang which
took place in 1996, Ray, G3NOM/9M2OM, reports QSL cards
have been printed and distributed to all stations who
sent direct to I1JQJ and JA9IFF, as of 3rd June, 1997.
Bureau cards are still being dealt with. Requests for
verification received via E-mail will be accepted, and if
verified will be confirmed by a QSL card returned via the
Bureau. The operation which took place May 8-11th made
2488 QSOs (CW 1427 and SSB 1061). Due to the season and
poor propagation, only 29 North American stations were
worked. The logs and QSL cards (which have been printed)
are now with the QSL Managers, therefore, QSLs should be
sent out soon. QSL info for both DXpeditions go to:
The address of the Moldovian National QSL-buro has been
changed since April 15, 1997, to: National QSL-buro of
MOLDOVA (ARM), P.O. Box 9537, Kishinev, MD-2071, MOLDOVA.
R, FRANZ JOSEF LAND. Nick,
R1FJV, continues to be active, mostly on CW. He will be here
until the end of the year. QSL via UA3AGS.
SV, CRETE. The "Island/DX
News" reports that Manfred, DL8SET, will be active signing
/SV9 from now until June 20th. No QSNs reported yet. QSL via home
call. Also, look for SV9DJV and SV9DRO to be active on SSTV. This
is believed to be the first SSTV operation from Crete. Meanwhile,
SV9/OM7RU has also been active, mainly on CW. He was heard on 20
and 18 meters between 1130 and 1600z. Length of activity is
unknown at this time.
SV5, DODECANESE. Another report
of an operator that will be active from here is Vito, I3BQC. He
will be active from June 16th to the early part of July from
Karpathos Island. QSL via bureau to his home call.
TJ, CAMEROON. Mark (ex-J5UAI) is
now active from Yaounde as TJ1US. Mark is running an ICOM 735,
and we are not sure if he has his amplifier operating yet. His
antennas are a Mosley tri-bander, dioples for 40/80 and a
Butternut vertical. We are not sure what he will use for 160
meters. He plans to be active on all bands CW/SSB/RTTY. His tour
of duty at the U.S. Emabassy in Cameroon will be 2 years. All QSL
cards go to NW8F.
YN, NICARAGUA. Hiro, JA6WFM,
will be active until the end of December as YN6WFM. He can
sometimes be found on 20 meters operating RTTY on 14085 kHz
between 1130 and 1230z or SSB on 14190 kHz around 2315z. QSL to
JA6VU.
