3A, MONACO. No signs or QSNs
were reported on the special event station 3A7A which is
celebrating 700 years of the Grimaldi Dynasty. Activity is
supposed to be until April 30th. QSL via the bureau. Meanwhile,
3A7G has been active and is reportedly celebrating the same event
and will be active during the same time period. Activity has been
reported on 20 meters. QSL via 3A2LF or via 3A bureau.
8R, GUYANA. Yuki, JH1NBN, will
be active as 8R1ZB from April 25-29th. Activity will be on CW,
SSB and RTTY with operations on 14-10 meters. QSL via JH1NBN.
A5, BHUTAN (Keep Your Fingers
Crossed On This One!). The "DX News Sheet" reports
Charlie, K4VUD, will try to be active in July while visiting
Nepal (9N).
BS7H, SCARBOROUGH REEF (Excerpts
Of An Update by Tim, N4GN). The BS7H 1997 DXpedition to
Scarborough Reef is still on target to hit the airwaves in
approximately two weeks. Team leader BA1OK met with JA1BK in
Tokyo this week to finalize several key details of the operation.
The U.S. members of the operating team--N7NG, W6EU and W6RGG--met
at the recent International DX Convention in Fresno to review
logistics issues with N4GN, a member of the two previous BS7H
DXpeditions. Here are some details which will be of interest to
the DX community:
All necessary licenses, operating permits, landing
permission, visas, and other documents are now in hand.
BS7H will be on the air for approximately 7 days,
starting 30 April. As with most DXpeditions of this type,
the exact schedule is dependent on weather,
transportation and other variables.
The following transmit frequencies will be used by BS7H:
RTTY--14083 and 21083 kHz - BS7H will also be QRV
on the Russian RS satellites.
DXers in Japan should QSL via JA1BK. All others should
QSL via W4FRU.

BV, TAIWAN. The "59(9)
DXReport" states Johannes, DL5AUJ, will visit his friend
Hans, BV3/DL4AMJ, in Taiwan from May 5-13. He will be active as
BV3/DL5AUJ on all bands. He will also take part in the CQ Mir DX
Contest May 10-11th, as BV0THU along with members of the
University Hsin-Chu. QSL via DL5AUJ.
C6, CROOKED ISLANDS (Bahamas). Look
for C6AJR to be active May 30th to June 2nd. The Crooked Island
has an IOTA of NA-113 and is located in the South Bahamas Group.
Operations will be on 80-6 meters. QSL via Joe Pater, WB8GEX,

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN. The "DX
News Letter" reports that DJ9SI, DJ8KI and DL8SET will be
active from Triesenberg on 80-2 meters from May 7-11th. QSL via
DL8SET.
HZ1AB GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION.
The HZ1AB license was issued in late 1946, and to commemorate 50
years of being on the air providing HZ QSOs and QSLs, the the
present and former members of this historic DX club station
announce a Golden Anniversary celebration for HZ1AB. The present
HZ1AB members at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, will be active in all
major international and regional contests during the period May
1997 through April, 1998. A special QSL card will be designed and
provided for contacts during this period. Review future issues of
ham radio publications and DX bulletins for exact details. It is
likely that all contest QSOs will be QSLed via the bureaus, with
other contacts being via the normal SASE via K8PYD, the HZ1AB QSL

IOTA NEWS. A short DXpedition to
Matthew Island (IOTA OC-218) will take place this week. Operators
will be Eric/FK8GM, Robert/FK8AH and Claude/ FK1RF. They will use
the callsign FK5M (same as the December, 1996 activity). The QSL
will be via F6AJA. They are landing by helicopter on Tuesday,
April 22nd around 2200z and depart Wednesday, April 23rd around
2000z. Activity will be on SSB and CW on the IOTA frequency.
J8, ST. VINCENT. After his
activity in 8R-land Yuki, JH1NBN, will be active as J83ZB from
April 29th to May 4th. Activity will also be on CW, SSB and RTTY
with operations on 14-10 meters. QSL via JH1NBN.
KH0, MARIANA ISLANDS. The
"Island/DX News" reports KH0SI is active from Saipan,
often between 1000 and 1200z on 14175 kHz.
OD, LEBANON. The "Daily
DX" reports Gaby, OD5NJ, has been active on the lower bands.
Check 3800 kHz between 0130 and 0300z and then afterwards check
160 meters fir Gaby.
PACIFIC DXPEDITION. Tada,
JA1WPX, will once again be active from the Pacific. Look for him
to be active from the Marshall Islands, April 25-26th as V73WP.
Then from April 27th to May 5th, he will be active from Western
Kiribati as T30WP. He will return to the Marshall Islands May
5-6th. Operations will be on 160-10 meters and the WARC bands.
Activity will be on SSB/CW using a TS-50 and a small AMP (300W).
QSL via JA1WPX direct to CBA or JARL bureau.
QSL INFO AND NEWS.....
It was reported by Peter ON6TT/5X1T, that
all printed QSL cards for VK0IR, TO0R and TO0R/MM arrived
safely at W4FRU's QTH earlier this past week.
SPECIAL EVENT STATION. This
year's 2nd IARU High Speed Telegraphy Championship will take
place in Sofia, Bulgaria, from October 6-10th. The special event
station, LZ0HST, will be active from now until October 30th. QSL
via the Bureau or direct: P.O.Box 830, Sofia-1000, Bulgaria.
ST, SUDAN. Sayed, ST2SA, has
been active. Best times to work him is on Saturdays and Sundays
between 2000 and 2400z on 20 meters. He does have an antenna for
10, 12, 15, 17 and 20 meters. QSL via the CBA.
SV5, DODECANESE. A group of
Hungarians will be active from the Island of Rhodes from June
3-17th. Operators will be Laci/HA0HW, Tomi/HA4GDO, Laci/HA6NL,
Zsolt/HA6PS and Tibi/HA6ZV. They will use their home calls with a
SV5/ prefixes and /p behind the calls. The team will work on all
HF bands from 160-10 meters on CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested
frequencies are:
SSB - 1841, 3789 (3611 for HAs), 7089, 14189 (14260),
18141, 24941 and 28489
They also want to be active on the satellites such as RS-10,
RS-12 and RS-15. Their down link will be 29421/29441 and
29321/29341 kHz. Two stations will be active.
SWODXA DX DINNER BANQUET UPDATE.
Bob, W9UI, President of SWODXA, reports the program for this
year's SWODXA DX Dinner (Friday of Hamvention weekend) is VK0IR.
Also, they are on the schedule for Saturday's SWODXA sponsored DX
Forum at Hara Arena. Normally, if they are scheduled for both
events, groups show something different at the DX Forum from what
is presented at the DX Dinner.
T33, BANABA ISLAND. Ron, ZL1AMO,
is currently active as 3D2RW from Fiji and plans to go to Tawara
some time this week. If he can find passage on a fishing boat, he
will be on Banaba the following week. Ron likes to work mainly on
CW and can be usually found on the lower bands and also the WARC
bands.
YI, IRAQ. Sanyi, HA7VK (ex.
XU7VK), will be active as YI9VK starting May 12th. He will be
there for a couple of months and will be operational on the HF
bands with 500 watts on CW, SSB and RTTY. QSL via HA0HW. He will
later be joined (if possible) by Laci, HA0HW, signing YI9HW
during the second part of July. QSL via CBA.
