that a planned operation is in the works by Brendan, G0UCT, and
that an announcement will be made when all things are ready to
go. Also, Andy mentions he is planning a multi-station contest
operation from 5A1A next year. He has met the 1st operator of
5A1A, Ali during the "Ham-Radio-Convention" in
Friedrichshafen and has invited Ali to his home before going back
to Libya. Andy will provide some information about 5A1A and the

the callsign 5V5A. The team consists of AA7NO, G3SXW, G4FAM,
GM3YTS, K5VT, K7GE, KC7V, N7BG, W6RGG and WB7SRW. They plan to
establish six stations and 17 antennas in Lome, the capital of
Togo, with increased efforts on LF antennas. QSL Manager will be
Bill Ferguson, GM4AGL. The trip will include road journeys to
collect equipment stored in Abidjan (TU) and Accra (9G). They
also hope to operate with personal callsigns just before the
contest on WARC bands and maybe 160 meters. More details will
follow, including the address of a remarkable page on the
World-Wide Web now being developed for the team by Warren Hill,
KF7AY.

including the WARC bands. QSL via EA3BT, Josep Gibert, P.O. Box

was being prepared (Sunday morning at 1530z), there has been no
sign of Sanyi. BUT a message replyed from packet radio onto the

is NOT the QSL Manager. The right managers are: IK4QJH
for SSB and I4LCK for CW.....

V51, NAMIBIA. Gary,
C53HG/WA1JBB, has informed OPDX that his three year operation as
C53HG is now history and all his antennas are down. He will be
moving on to V51 Namibia, July 17th. Gary can't say how much he
enjoyed operating as C53HG and states his great QSL Manager Mac,
W3HCW, has handed out over 20,000 QSL cards so far, but his QSOs
numbered over twice that. He hopes to be operational in Namibia
on HF by September, so look for him then.
V6, ANTIGUA. Just a reminder
that Team Antigua will activate V26B in the upcoming WRTC/IARU
RadioSport Games on July 13th. There has been a report that the
team has been reduced in size of operators. They will be entering
either the Multi/Single or Multi/Multi catagory and that the
category decision will be made by the crew upon arrival in
Antigua. They will be active for a short time both before and
after the contest on all bands and modes. The members and QSL
routes for this trip will be:
V26B - Sam Harner, QSL via WT3Q
V26E - Darrel Neron, QSL via AB2E
V26U - Bill Hudzik, QSL via WA2UDT
VK0, MACQUARIE ISLAND. Reports
from Germany state Warren, VK0WH, will be QRT for the next 2 or 3
weeks due to antenna problems. The extreme weather conditions on
Macquarie Island and salty water caused a strong corrosion of his
antennas. Due to short days during the Antarctic winter season,
it will take 2 or 3 weeks for him to repair what has been
destroyed. We will keep you informed when Warren becomes active
again.
ZK1, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS. Just a
reminder to look for the 8-land operators (AA8U, AG8W, K8MJZ and
KA8KZJ) to be active July 11-21st. Callsigns to be used are
ZK1AAU, ZK1MJZ and ZK1AGW. The will operate from Rarotonga Island
as ZK1AAU in the IARU Contest. QSL via AA8U.
ZS8IR (Marion Island Update). Chris,
ZS8IR, is reportedly very happy on the island and his total QSOs
to date are 3,670 and has worked 113 countries; 48 ITU zones and
35 CQ zones.
