SCARBOROUGH REEF, BS7. The 1997 BS7H
DXpedition has begun. Most areas of the world have reported
strong signals, while propagation to central and eastern North
America has suffered from a moderate increase in geomagnetic
activity. The team has made quite a number of QSOs so far. JA
stations QSL via JA1BK. All others QSL via W4FRU.
GUINEA, 3X. Philippe, F5IEV, is now signing
3XY3A from Conakry, and will be active until June 15. He can
usually be found on 14020 and 14130 kHz. He has also been
reported on 21236 kHz between 1730 and 1830z. QSL to home call.
SRI LANKA, 4S7. Mario, HB9BRM, is QRV as
4S7BRG until May 30 and is working RTTY on the weekends. QSL via
bureau.
MALDIVES, 8Q. Mike, OE3MZC, and his XYL
Barbara, OE3YCB, will be active as 8Q7MZ and 8Q7BZ, respectively,
from Rashdu Atoll, Kuramati Island, until May 14. Activity is
expected on all bands, with preference given to the IOTA
frequency of 14260 kHz. QSL via OE1PYA.
NEPAL, 9N. Kazu, JA8MWU, is active as 9N1WU
until May 6. He will be QRV on 80 to 10 meters, SSB only. QSL to
Kazu Abe, PO Box 1214, Kathmandu, Nepal. Murray, VE5SM, expects
to sign 9N1SM in mid May and be QRV on 40 and 20 meters. QSL via
VE8PW.
TAIWAN, BV. Johannes, BV3/DL5AUJ, will be QRV
from the QTH of Hans, BV3/DL4AMJ, from May 5 to 13. Both will
participate in the MIR Contest as BV0THU. QSL to DL5AUJ.
FRANZ JOSEF LAND, R1FJ. Nick, R1FJV, will be
QRV from here for the rest of 1997. He can be found on 40 to 10
meters, using mainly CW. QSL via UA3AGS.
SEYCHELLES, S7. Paddy, S79MAD, will be QRV
from here for four months. Activities will include RTTY on the
newer bands. QSL via GW4WVO.
FALKLAND ISLANDS, VP8. Duncan, G0NWY, will be
QRV as VP8CEH until October 1997. QSL via home call.
LORD HOWE ISLAND, VK9. Ed, K8VIR, will be
active from here as VK9EHH until May 6. Look for him to be QRV on
14260 and 21300 kHz. QSL to his 1997 CBA.
THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. This is a busy
contest weekend. Participate in the ARI International DX, Danish
SSTV, MARAC County Hunters CW and Ten-Ten International Net
Spring CW Contests. The Massachusetts, Texas and Connecticut QSO
Parties are also scheduled. Please see May QST, page 97 for
