ARLD012 DX news
This week's bulletin was made possible with info provided by
the Yankee Clipper Contest Club PacketCluster network, Tedd,
KB8NW, the OPDX Bulletin, and Contest Corral from QST. Thanks to
all.
MYANMAR, XZ. The Finnish team of OH1MA,
OH1RY, OH2BE, OH2BH, and OH2KNB were supposed to be on the air as
XZ1R February 18 to 28, though there have been no PacketCluster
spots on our New England network to date. Listen for their CW on
1824.5/1831, 3504, 7004, 10114, 14004, 18074, 21004, 24894 and
28004 kHz. SSB will be on 1845, 3795, 7042/7095, 14195, 18145,
21295, 24945 and 28495 kHz. QSL via SCSDX Team, PO Box 111, FIN
24101, SALO, FINLAND.
KERMADEC ISLAND, ZL8. The team for this
DXpedition consists of Ken, ZL2HU, Chris, ZL2DX, Ron, ZL2TT, Lee,
ZL2AL, Al, WA3YVN and an unnamed Japanese operator. They will be
active for 11 days starting May 4. They depart from New Zealand
on April 30.
AUCKLAND ISLAND, ZL9. Graham, ZL4MV, should
be wrapping up his ZL9GD operation around press time for this
bulletin. This was a short notice trip that he couldn't refuse.
WESTERN SAHARA, S0. S01A, EA2JG, and other
EA's and Europeans will be active from S020R starting February
20. They should be active on CW and SSB for about a week. QSL via
EA2JG, Arseli Echeguren, Las Vegas 91, 01479 Luyando, (Alava)
Spain. Please, no bureau cards.
MALTA, 9H. NODXA members and friends DL7IO,
DL7IQ, DL7UTM, DL7URH, DL2RUM and others will be QRV May 17 to
31. Most activity will be from Gozo Island, though some from
Comino Island may be possible. Individual's call signs known at
press time are 9H3TZ and 9H3TY. They will sign 9H3TY or a 9H8
call sign in the CQ WW WPX CW contest. QSL via DL7VRO.
CHAGOS ISLANDS, VQ9. Ron, AA5DX, will sign
either VQ9DX or VQ9RM for the next 4 months. He will concentrate
on 160, 80 and 40 meters.
ICELAND, TF. Fred, ON6QR, Peter, ON7PC, Jack,
ON5OO and Stef, ON1KSZ, will be in the CQWW WPX SSB Contest March
30 and 31. A special call sign may be used for the contest.
Listen for them from Reykjavik March 26 to April 2 signing
TF/their special call/P. They will try to operate during the
afternoon of March 28 from Westman Islands with the TF7/ prefix
and /P suffix. Check 14260 kHz and other IOTA frequencies.
BELIZE, V31. Vic, KI6IM, and John, N6YRU,
will operate V31DX in the ARRL SSB DX contest from Ambergris
Caye. QSL via AA6BB.
PALMYRA ATOLL, KH5. There have been reports
of an article in the Monday, February 12, Pacific Daily News
newspaper in Guam reporting a Honolulu family selling the atoll
to a New York firm. This firm is supposedly interested in the
atoll for scientific research and hotel development.
SINT MAARTEN, PJ7. Ron, ND5S, xyl Sue, KF5LG,
Bill, AA8GL, and his xyl Dorothy, KB8ZXO, will sign /PJ7 from the
Sapphire Beach Club February 25 to March 9. They will be in the
ARRL SSB Contest the first weekend in March. They hope to have a
special call sign once they get to the island. QSL via their home
calls.
ANGUILLA, VP2E. VP2ES by KC0ZC, VP2EZ by
WA0PUJ, VP2E/N0ZSU and VP2E/KL7YL are some calls you should be
hearing February 28 to March 6. During the ARRL SSB DX Contest
listen for VP2E. QSL individual efforts via home calls and VP2E
via KC0ZC.
