3W - "La Gazette du DX" reports
that Jacques, F6BUM plans to be active on CW and SSB from the
islands of Tam (AS-157) on 14-16 March, Cham (AS-???) on 21-23
March and Cat Ba (AS-132) on 3-5 April. QSL via F6BUM.
BV - David, BA4DW reports he will be on
business trip to Taiwan on 11-20 January and has been issued a
licence which allows him to guest operate and he plans to be QRV
during his free time from some local BV stations. QSL via home
call (David Y. J. Zhou, P.O. Box 040-088, Shanghai, 200040,
China).
CE9_ssh - Oleg, UA1PBA [425DXN 549] was
active as CE9/R1ANF from a Chilean base on King George Island in
the South Shetlands (AN-010). He is expected to operate again
from CE9 on 8 January. QSL via RK1PWA. [TNX DL5EBE]
GJ - Martin Atherton, G3ZAY and Dominic
Smith, M0BLF will operate as GJ6UW from Jersey (EU-013) from the
afternoon of 15 February to the morning of the 17th. They will be
active from a location in the north of the island and hope to
work on all bands from topband to ten metres, SSB and CW. QSL via

KG4 - Florida DXPedition Group members Bill,
W4WX (KG4DX) and Larry, W1LR (KG4LR) will be active from
Guantanamo Bay on 11-19 January. Look for them on all bands,
including 6 metres, on CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK-31. QSL to home

KH0 - Toshi, JP1IOF and Yoshi, JE2EHP will
operate as KH0WW and K1HP/KH0 respectively from Saipan (OC-086),
Northern Marianas on 25-28 January. They plan to be active 160-6
metres SSB, CW, FM and RTTY. QSl via home calls. [TNX JE2EHP]
KH0 - Oita DX Club members JA6BTO
(KH0/JA6BTO), JA6HJP (KF4LX/AH0), JA6LZN (KH0/JA6LZN), JA6PBO
(KK7UB/KH0), JA6VQA (WH0B) and JH6ALF (AB2GA/KH0) will be active
from from Saipan, Northern Marianas (OC-086) on 7-10 February.
They plan to oprate CW, SSB, SSTV and RTTY with an emphasis on
the low and WARC bands and 6 metres. QSLs via home calls either

KH1 - Hrane, YT1AD and others plan to be
active from Baker Island (OC-089) for ten days in early May.

OA - Rene, DL2JRM and Daniel, DL5SE [425DXN
549] are now active on 160-10 metres as 4T4X and 4T4V from the
station at the Radio Club Peruano (OA4O) until 13 January. It is
not clear whether they will be active also from San Lorenzo
(SA-052) Island as previously announced. QSL 4T4X via DL2JRM, QSL

ON - UBA club section Gulden Spoor KTK (ON6CK
and OT0R) will operate through 31 December as OP0GS to celebrate
the 700th anniversary of the Battle of the Golden Spurs at

OZ - Look for Sandro, OZ/DD3SP/p and Uwe,
OZ/DL3BQA/p to be active (on HF, 6 and 2 metres mainly SSB) from
Laeso Island (EU-088) on 5-11 February. QSL via home calls. [TNX

R1_ant - Alex, RA1PC is currently stationed
at the Russian Antarctic Base "Vostok" (IOTA AN-016,
WABA UA-010) [425DXN 548] but his busy work schedule has
prevented him from being active so far. Alan, UA1PAC will be
leaving Russia on 6 January and will be joined by by Mike, RW1AI.
They will operate from Vostok Base as as R1ANC (QSL via DL5EBE)
and RW1AI/ANT (QSL via home call) respectively. [TNX DL5EBE]
R1_ant - Nikolai Makarov, UA3YH/AB0KG will be
active as R1ANM from the "Amundsen-Scott" South Pole
station (AN-016, WABA K-08) between 9 and 20 January. He plans to
operate both CW and SSB mainly on 20 metres, with some sporadic
activity on 15 and 10 metres. Look for him on or around
14020/14160 kHz at 16-19 UTC (Europe) and 14020/14243 kHz at 0-2
UTC (North America, South America and Asia). QSL via UA3YH
through the bureau or direct to AB0KG (P.O.Box 18118, Boulder, CO

T8 & V6 - Tony, K2NV will be on vacation
in the Pacific on 12-22 January. He will operate (mostly CW, with
some SSB and RTTY) from T88ZZ on Palau (OC-009) on 12-15 January
and from V63RF on Pohnpei (OC-010) on 18-22 January. QSL via

TI - Bob, AA1M (CW) and Mike, W1USN (SSB)
will be operating from Costa Rica (TI2) between 4 and 11
February. QSLs via home calls either direct or through the

V3 - Gerd, DJ4KW and Gisela, DK9GG will be
active from Belize as V31YN and V31GW respectively for four weeks
starting on 5 January. They plan to operate CW, RTTY and PSK-31.

VK9_mr - The team that operated from Willis
Island (VK9WI) in 2000 and Mellish Reef (VK9ML) last year will be
going back to Mellish between 12 and 22 April. They plan to be
active again as VK9ML on 160-6 metres and to concentrate on CW

VP8 - Mike, VP8CMH/mm reports that the
attempt at getting to Halley Base (75S-035W) has been cancelled
due to the heavy pack that is currently in the southern Weddell
Sea. Mike is now heading for the Falklands and "as yet I
don't know if we are going to be calling in at Signy [VP8SIG]
and/or South Georgia [VP8SGK]" [425DXN 537], he says. From
the Falklands they will again head for Halley, hopefully arriving
towards the end of January. [TNX DL5EBE]
VP8 - The Daily DX reports that operational
dates for the activities from South Georgia and the South
Sandwich Islands [425DXN 553] "are entirely dependent on the
weather, sea and ice conditions in the South Atlantic. If the
team can manage to operate from South Sandwich it should be
expected towards the 3rd week of January and for only a few days
(perhaps 3-4). The group hopes to be at South Georgia for a
longer period, perhaps 10 days, during the later part of January
to early February". Calls and QSL managers will not be made
public until the operations start.
XV_spr - Yuki, JI6KVR reports that VARC
(Vietnam Amateur Radio Club) is planning to be active as XV9TH
from the Spratly Islands (AS-051) in April. Further information
is expected in due course.
YA - The Daily DX reports that there is no
genuine YA5T operators currently active from Afghanistan. Peter,
ON6TT expects to go back to Islamabad on 20 January and then to
Kabul within the following few days, while Mark, ON4WW will leave
on 6 January and head to Afghanistan via United Arab Emirates and
Pakistan. Do not forget to visit http://www.qsl.net/ya5t/

ZF - Lou, KE1F will be active (on 10-160
metres CW, SSB and perhaps RTTY) as ZF2LM from Grand Cayman
Island (NA-016) on 14-30 January. QSL via AF2C. [TNX KE1F]
ZS_ant - Now that the summer season has
begun, Anton, ZS7/ZS4AGA [425DXN 553] is particularly busy. The
commercial radio equipment at the SANAE IV Antarctic base has to
be used for flight controlling and other summer tasks and Anton
might be no longer able to operate on the amateur radio bands
before leaving Antarctica in February. [TNX DL5EBE]

GUANTANAMO ---> Please note that
there is no QSL Bureau in Guantanamo (KG4). All cards
should be sent according to the operator's instructions
and never to a KG4 call through the bureau. Bill Gallier,
W4WX/KG4DX is the QSL manager for Clayton, KG4PK
(president of the KG4AN radio club and currently the only
active KG4 living at Guantanamo). [TNX W4WX]
PIRATE ---> Serge Gorobec, 4K5CW says
he does not operate RTTY or other digital modes. The
station recently and repeatedly spotted on RTTY was not
the genuine 4K5CW, do not waiste your time and money on
QSLling.
QSL 3X1K ---> DF8AN is not the QSL
manager for 3X1K. This station, appearing sporadically
and staying on the air for only a few contacts, is
probably a pirate. [TNX W4YO]
QSL AP2JZB ---> With immediate effect
cards should be sent direct only to AP2JZB. Leon, K2EWB
will be able to confirm contacts made prior to 1 January

QSL BY1PK ---> If you worked BY1PK on
*24 September 2001*, then you should send your cards to
BA4DW (David Y. J. Zhou, P.O. Box 040-088, Shanghai,
200040, China). David operated that day from the CRSA
(Chinese Radio Sports Association) HQ station during his
business trip to Beijing. QSLs for other QSOs go to BY1PK
(P.O. Box 6106, Beijing, China) or via the route given by
guest operators.
QSL CO2OJ ---> Al Bailey, K8SIX is
the QSL manager for CO2OJ for all contacts after 1
January 2001. He can also help with QSOs prior to that
date, but please e-mail him (k8six@home.com) before
sending your card.
QSL JW0PK ---> Jacek, SP5DRH reports
that the first 500 direct QSL cards for JW0PK (Prins Karl
Forland, EU-063) were mailed a few days before Christmas.
The rest will be sent out in batches of 250 cards per
week, bureau cards will follow.
QSL P29NB ---> "QRZ-DX"
reports that Norm is handling his own QSLing now,
including P20X for 1993 and earlier. Requests should be
sent to Norm Beasley, SIL PO Box 437, Ukarumpa EHP 444,
Papua New Guinea. He asks not to use IRCs, as PNG does

QSL UA2FX ---> Igor, UA2FX reports
that is previous Kalinigrad address (POB 102) is not
valid any longer. The new QSL route for direct QSLs
*only* is via DK4VW (Ulrich Mueller, Kreutzacker 13,
D-35041 Marburg, Germany). Bureau cards are still to be
sent through the Russian bureau.
QSL V73UX ---> Paul Rubinfeld, WF5T
is not the QSL manager for V73UX. Cards should be sent
direct to Dave Fortin, P.O. Box 66, APO AP 96555, USA.
WF5T is the QSL manager for George, V73GT and V73E (IOTA
expedition to OC-087 in April 2001).
QSL XT2DX ---> XT2DX logged nearly
16,000 QSOs in the CQ WW DX CW Contest in November (see
the details at http://www.voodudes.org). All
requests for QSL cards (over 2,000 QSOs) have now been

SILENT KEY - John Van Putten, WD8MGQ
reports the very sad news of the passing of Joe Gumino,
K2OLG on 28 December. Joe operated from no less than a
dozen IOTA groups in the US and will be sorely missed by
the IOTA community worldwide. A short biography on Joe is
