CE - On their way back from the
"International Complex Expedition" (see Antarctica
below) RW3GW, UA3GVV, UA0XB plan to stop and operate, possibly as
XQ8RI, from Riesco Island (SA-???) between 15 and 20 January.

HL - Lee, DS4CNB will operate as DS4CNB/4
from Cheju Island (AS-026) between 28 December and 1 January.
Look for him on 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres CW and SSB. QSL via home

JA - Takeshi, JI3DST will operate (on 40, 17
15, 12, 10 and 6 metres SSB) as JI3DST/6 from Daito Islands
(AS-047) between 7 UTC on 30 December and 2 UTC on 7 January. QSL
via JI3DST either direct (Takeshi Funaki, 2-18-26 Hannan-Cho,
Abeno-Ku, Osaka City, Osaka 545-0021, Japan) or through the

JW - Per, LA3FL/JW3FL is currently active in
his spare time from Bear Island (EU-027) [425DXN 497], where he
has reactivated the old Bear Station club station JW1I. He will
move to Hopen Island (EU-063) at the end of January. [TNX The

KL - Richard, WB7APG is a new General class
operator who has been stationed at the US Coast Guard Loran
Station on Attu Island (NA-064) for about 7 months. He will be up
on the air as his schedule permits from now through April 2001.
Richard uses a 100W refurbished military radio with a vertical
antenna, has been told of the 14260 and 21260 IOTA frequencies

OE - Amateur radio operators in Austria have
been authorized to use the special prefix OE75 from 1 January to
31 December 2001 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the
Austrian IARU society (OEVSV). Information on the awards issued

PY - Look for IV3NVN, IV3GKE, PP5TO and PY1AK
to operate as ZX1R (QSL via PY1AK) and ZX5T/1 (QSL via IV3NVN)

W - AD5A, AB5EB and KB5SKN will be active
from Mustang Island (NA-092) on 29-31 December. The operation
will be sporadic depending on schedule and will be both SSB and

YK - Ron/WJ7R, Dick/N7RO, Bob/W4DR,
Rosalie/N4CFL, Carl/K9LA, Vicky/AE9YL, Jim/W4PRO and Al/K7AR will
be active (on 6-160 metres CW, SSB and RTTY) as YK9A from the
Syrian Telecommunication Establishment (STE) site in Damascus,
Syria for nine days in early February. The team will leave the US
on 1 February and expects to be on the air on the 3rd. They will
have three HF stations with amplifiers and a fourth station for 6
metres. As a major emphasis will be put into working stations
from the US and Japan, where Syria is most wanted, the following
pilots have been appointed: Dick/N6FF (n6ff@tco.net, for the western half
of the US), Bernie/W3UR (bernie@dailydx.com,
for the eastern half of the US), Masao/JH3VNC (m-ueki@po.bcap.co.jp, for
Japan). The "DX Syria 2001" is at www.qsl.net/k7ar

ZD8 - Johnny, ZD8KW (ZD7WRG) is currently
active from Ascension Island (AF-003). He will go back to St.
Helena on 9 January, but will return to Ascension on 12 February.

ANTARCTICA ---> The Russian Robinson
Club (http://rrc.sc.ru) announces that the
"International Complex Expedition" to the South
Pole will take place from 30 December to 15 January, with
possible activities as CE8/R3RRC (from Punta Arenas,
Chile), R3RRC/ant (from Patriot Hills Base) and R3RRC/am
from a balloon above the South Pole as R3RRC/am. The
operators will be RW3GW, UA3GVV and UA0XB. A certificate
will be available for two QSOs on different bands or with
different calls (requests can be sent to RW3GW, Valery I.
Sushkov, P.O. Box 3, Lipetsk - 398000, Russia; the cost

4W1CW ---> This station is giving
N7RO as his QSL manager, but Dick does not know him and
know nothing about handling his cards.
CORRECTION ---> Koji, JK7TKE (T88TU)
is not active from Belau, as reported in 425DXN #503. The
activity took place in autumn (see #495), we apologize
for any inconvenience this may have caused Koji and our
readers.

QSL FR/F6KDF/T ---> Gil, F5NOD
reports that the QSLs were received from the printer one
month ago and some 10,000 requests have already been
processed but not mailed. They will be sent out all at
the same time around 15 January.
QSL P43DO ---> Bob, W4WSZ reports he
will not be handling QSL cards for P43DO after 1 January
2001.
QSL VK0MM ---> Alan, VK0MM has been
permanently QRT from Macquarie Island as of 16 December.
QSL cards will be available in late January and all
proceeds will be donated to an Australian charity
providing care for children with cancer and other
terminal illnesses. The QSL route (direct only) will be

QSL I7JRP/7 ---> Giancarlo, IK7WUJ
reports all of the direct and bureau cards received so
far for I7JRP/7 (WAIL PU-011, May 2000) have been
processed.
QSL ZD9/ZS1B (1998) ---> In a recent
message Deon, ZR1DQ reported that "Bud is funding
the QSL operation out of his own pocket and he had the
cards printed a few weeks ago. He is completing the cards
by hand at the moment and will mail them all at the same
time".
QSL ZD9BV & ZD9CO ---> As of 1
January 2001 John Parrot, W4FRU will no longer be the QSL
manager for Andy/ZD9BV and Lorraine/ZD9CO. Cards should
be sent to Andy Repetto, Tristan da Cunha, South Atlantic

QSL VIA RA1QQ ---> Nick (see address
below) reports the cards for this year's activities -
namely RA1QQ/1, RA1QY/1 & UE1RRC/1 (EU-147) and
RA1QQ/A, RA1QY/A & UE1RRC (RRC-2201 and 2204) - have
been printed. Logs are still open for UE1QQQ (RRC-2201 in
1997), UE1QQQ/1 (EU-161 in 1997), RA1QQ/1 (EU-160, EU-161
and EU-082 in 1998) and UE1QFF (RRC-2204 in 1999). Please
note that RA1QQ is *not* the QSL manager for RW1ZZ/1

WF5E DX QSL SERVICE ---> Les, WF5E
announces he will have to raise his rates effective mid
January 2001 to 4 QSLs per $1.00. "We did not raise
our rates with the last postage increase", Les says,
"although with the new US international rates being
raised effective January 7, 2001 we have to increase ours
also". Les reports the following stations/managers
do not accept cards sent through a QSL service: 3B9R,
5A1A, 5H3RK, AC7DX, AI6V, AP2JZB/K2EWB, CY2SS, DL7FT,
FR5DX, K3IPK, KE7LZ, N4FKZ, N7LVD, V51AS, V63AO/KC6IN,
V63KU/JA6NL, VE3DO, VK9NS, W6UC, WA4JTK, YT1AD, ZB2FK.
